In their own words
The worst moving company in Rhode Island. Sure, they are fast but they are too fast and they broke a number of things and they put things back together incorrectly. Then they have the audacity to state that it's my problem and I should deal with it. I did and I got myself a lawyer. They refunded me the amount I paid and compensated me for some of the items damaged. It took months but it was worth the wait. I am now "blacklisted" with them. Avoid at all costs. They hire ex-cons and people who look "threatening".
I called Gentle Giant movers because they are local and I used them several years ago and they were great. I called them yesterday for a quote to move some furniture from RI to MA. They were courteous on the phone but never gave me a quote or bothered to call me back. So disappointed because they have such great reviews! 😔 …
Actually, NO STARS!!! I left messages about needing a quote and no call!! Never mind, another more professional company got Mt business. They actually answered their phone!!

Shane and Kevin were awesome! They were on time (actually a little early), worked quickly but also did not sacrifice care with wrapping things or taking them apart. AND they were so polite and nice and frequently checked to make sure they had the right items. Would definitely use them again for a move!

08/2026: Editing my review due to moving across town into an apartment that had finally become available. I didn't hesitate to contact Gentle Giant Moving Company a second time in a year to assist with my local move between apartment complexes. Everyone on the team I've interacted with was so helpful, friendly and took the stress out of my move (again). Such a great company; great staff and they truly take care of your belongings and make sure you're settled into your new place.

Local move in Rhode Island. Andrew Kuhn in the office was incredibly helpful before my move and then the movers that day were AWESOME. They arrived on time and were absolute professionals. Ryan Libby took charge and directed everyone, explaining everything along the way, parking that truck in a difficult area like a pro. Daniel Hatton came in and just started wrapping our couch and furniture like a boss, great personality, joking with us and seemingly enjoying what he does.

Update: GG called us to resolve this issue and refunded us for the drive time on the first day. We appreciate the good customer service! They charged us for an hours drive each way to get to our location (Providence - 20 minutes drive from their office). This significantly increased our move cost, especially as they insisted on packing on a different day from the move (it took them 1.5 hours to pack so they could have packed and moved us on the same day). It’s a scam to drive up prices.
