We hired Gentry to move our household in early January; we requested a full-service move as both my partner and I have significant physical limitations. The estimator never did a visual review; basically just gave us a formulaic equivalent of how much it would cost. Come move day, they had 6 folks on site, and off the bat, they were unprepared for the amount of packing we requested. We were moving both our household and a storage unit during this move.
I’ve waited over a month to write this review because I wanted to cool off after a horrible moving experience. Long story short. We hired Gentry for our local move Feb 28, 2024 (Smithfield to Cumberland) but Gentry didn’t move us…they subcontract out some of their moves. The day of the move a truck from a trash removal company showed up with 3 men to move our 1800 sq ft of stuff. The estimate was for 9 hrs at $200 an hour. It was quickly apparent that time frame would not be met.
I am writing this more than 14 months after my experience, as it has taken me this long to mentally unpack, process, and hopefully move past what I went through. I am genuinely still at a loss to adequately describe how negative of an …

I can't say enough about the team from Gentry. Tony, Mike, and Brendan were phenomenal. They moved my entire 2400 square foot home efficiently and made it look effortless. They worked incredibly hard all day, they were amazingly organized, and maintained such a positive attitude...even with a very bad weather day. They handled my belongings with great care and placed everything thoughtfully in the new house. I am so grateful for this team, they made a potentially stressful day smooth and seamless.
I have moved many times, and Gentry was the best experience I’ve ever had. I was moving across town, having just gone through my mother’s death. They came and packed me up and moved me, carefully but also fast. The owner herself came to help, and the team of guys were wonderful with me and my barky dog. They made a very rough day so much easier for me. And the price actually came in over $1000 lower than what she had quoted me! I’d hire them again in a heartbeat.
Tony and Mike really went above and beyond helping me move on a snowy Saturday morning. They worked so efficiently, showing great respect and paying close attention to every detail. They effortlessly disassembled and reassembled a queen-size bed, making the process look easy. All my furniture and boxes were safely transferred from my old apartment to the new one, with no issues or damage. They took extra care to protect the floors and furniture during the move. I absolutely recommend Gentry, Tony, and Mike.
Thank you gentry moving! From start to finish everyone was so kind and easy to work with. Tony's crew did a great job, and had good tunes from the 90's playing during the move! Christine the owner even came and did the estimate herself, and we ended up being >$1,000 less than the estimate. Great company, will recommend to others!
