Gouffon Moving & Storage

Bad experience. Some of the crew were extremely rude and clearly didn’t want to be working. They broke several things and forgot to take a few heavy items which I had to move on my own. I was overcharged, and the owner, who seemed very kind pre-move, ended up being not so kind after all. Definitely would not recommend Gouffon.

GUARD YOUR EXPENSIVE ITEMS! Read their YELP reviews! On October 5th, 2023, 3 male employees arrived to pack items from my home.Upon arrival there was a strong smell of marijuana on them. I almost called the office to report this, but decided to let it go as I was on a deadline. During the walk-through instructions were given regarding what to pack. I designated an area for expensive designer handbags at the top of my stairs that they would handle independently.

Gouffon moved us last September. For the most part, things went well. Sadly, not all. The driver spilled a glass of tea on our white rug and of course stained it. Gouffon offered me $50.00 so I could rent a carpet shampooer and do it myself. An antique buffet has a door jammed shut. They sent a man out about two months ago. He couldn't fix it and said he would come back with someone else but so far, no word. The pad for my dining room table was set on the bottom of the truck and is now curled at the end.

Showed up an hour late. Broke my TV and some other items. Spent a considerable amount of time on cell phones instead of moving. I wasn’t happy with company I’d recommend another moving company.

I went with this company as I had heard good things about it. The reviews look good overall with only a few outliers. I had 3 moves over the course of one week. The first move went okay. Had some box damage, and I felt they were a little rough with my things. Nothing damaged overall. Just some scratches and stuff but not terrible work. The next day, went probably the best overall. The final move, they were nice, but one guy talked a lot. The other worked really hard. My tv base got damaged in transport.

My experience with this company was not good. I realize some crews may do a great job but that was not the case in my situation. First they did not use the moving blankets properly. They only used plastic wrap (used a metal dolly without moving blankets, big no no) and then once on truck the blankets were thrown on top of furniture. The proper way would have been to place blankets on furniture and then wrap with plastic. I actually called early on to get this corrected but was no use. It just upset the movers.

The movers deliberately wasted time and also damaged walls. Company doesn’t care at all. I have used many other moving companies in the past and this is the only bad experience I have ever had. A two hour job was done so slowly, they charged for 4.25 hours. The movers sat in their truck for thirty minutes before even starting. They moved in slow motion carrying one thing at a time and loitering outside for five minutes or longer each time.

The moved the neighbors and tore up my property and said oh well our trucks are DOT... We'll that is fine but you can't destroy others property and not compensate for negligence. I own both sides of that easement and there are no hight restrictions that I have to keep my trees at. GM told me they would clean it up, but they did nothing wrong. Why would you offer to clean it up if you did nothing wrong? Smartass drivers who can't drive.
