In their own words
My movers were Marcus H and Antonio C. I did not like when Marcus was on his phone doing a personal call and basically told us to be quiet because he was on the phone with one of his family members while doing paperwork and being rude when explaining the process of my personal belongings because I question one of the goods because it looked damaged. Marcus gave me a rude response with zero politeness and tried to blame everything on me.
Normally I would wait until the end of an experience to rate, but I don't see how Hollander/Mayflower/United can possibly improve the experience beyond one star at this point. First, the packing team took longer than expected to pack, so rather than make us wait around, they offered to lock up when they left - instead, they left all the doors to their house wide open. Not just unlocked, OPEN. Front door, back door, garage door - in Chicago.
We used Hollander for a move and had one of the worst moving experiences for my life, and I’ve moved 11 times in the last 21 years. They damaged a deep freeze, wine fridge, crib / changing table combo (that had to be thrown out, and over a dozen other items of similar expense. I would suggest another company for any of your moves.
The drivers backed the truck onto my property damaging my internet and cable line. Then took over 8 hours to pack and refused to tell me about the damage until I pointed it out. Then they wanted to argue about the damage they did, getting upset with me.
We apologize for hitting the wire and the misunderstanding. They should be at least 14 feet high according to Illinois law. My understanding is Comcast came out and fixed the wire at no expense.
Terrible experience on a recent move. When the movers showed up I thought it was a joke. Currently dealing with claims to be made whole for the $8k+ in damage. All furniture was damaged and our couch looks like it was dragged across the country.
The sales rep. advised us to purchase ins. and that they would provide boxes and paper we just pick it up at office. It was very unorganized with the box pick up and raining, had to ask them to wrap boxes in plastic. Movers at the house …
It would be nice to know when thieves are handling our things. Not everything made it to our destination. Our household items were systematically picked through and repacked before being sent on to our end location. Zero stars. I do NOT …

Bad experience. They talked a good game but misled us and were negligent in the move resulting in furniture damage. It’s been out a year since the move and it’s not yet resolved. Wold not recommend these folks.

In their own words
From the start, Chris K. was so reassuring. He was patient and professional. He explained every detail of what to expect and he followed through on all of it. His assistant Michelle was also great at communicating all the steps. Chris effectively coordinated with his agent in our area, Corrigan Movers, Rochester NY, and the crew that loaded up our house was superb. Couldn't have asked for more professional and caring guys.

Tony, Simon, Matt, Alex, and Vinnie were a phenomenal team. They did a fantastic job, and they were kind, helpful, and good humored throughout packing and moving. They were very careful with my belongings, as if they were their own things. I would recommend Hollander for packing and moving to anyone—this is my second time using them.

Yesterday I had a on point loading of my place! James, Boz, Marc (with the dreads) came through and got to work. All were very professional, informative, and strategic in their approach when they were faced with obstacles. I would definitely recommend Hollander based on these group of guys. Thanks again 💪🏾
