Let's start with the administrative side of things. It's an absolute joke. We sent our deposit via VENMO. Really? Get a merchant services account like a real business and accept credit cards. No confirmation or scheduling information after payment was sent. I had to call to make sure we were on the books. They couldn't give me a time 5 days before the move and was told they usually call to give a time the day before. Fast forward to the day before. No call by 5 pm.
We hired Jeff Star Movers for our short move within Royal Oak. Communication was great initially but the rest of the experience wasn't. They were quite reckless with our belongings, damaging our coffee table, brand new desk, and multiple walls. When we called to complain and make an insurance claim on the broken items, they blocked my husband's phone number and have had zero communication with us. One of the movers had 8 stiches in his hand which was bleeding.
These guys showed up 45 minutes late and moved very slowly it was very apparent they wanted to milk the clock . The guy Jeff stopped and took about 3 different 10 minute phone calls during my move while charging by the hour and he advised …
I would have given 5 stars but… The guys came ready to work which is always a great thing. They DID NOT slow down or lollygag. They were ready. I didn’t like that they smelled like cigarettes and cologne, that’s not a good mix, but they were personable and again they came ready to get it done! The thing that got me upset is the fee for heavy item because it didn’t mention stove, fridge, washer, dryer.. normally those are standard within the move.

BEWARE of Jeff Star Movers at all costs!!! If I could rate this company zero stars, I would. They did an awful job moving our furniture into a storage unit. They have ruined multiple pieces of furniture. We asked them to wrap all our furniture to ensure that it wouldn't get scratched up, yet most of the wrapping was ripped apart and falling off. Not only did this wrapping take a lot longer, meaning we needed to pay them extra, but it did not protect our furniture since they barely wrapped it.

Absolute rip off in price. Most expensive quote in moving I've ever received. I have no issue with charging as much as a company wants but they try to hide the total cost. I needed 3 boxes moved 4 miles and they wanted almost $300!! Anyways I would not recommend them or their sales tactics. Plenty of other options on Craigslist. Got my job done for $100. Stay away from these crooks.
