Johnnie T. Melia Moving & Storage

Beware their advertised rates, other companies charge only for the time on location while JT Melia charges additionally for time supposedly spent driving to and from their location. This ended up with me being charged an additional 2 hours even though their location is easily within 10 minutes of where my new address is and certainly not 45 minutes away from my previous location. Besides that, they did not use any moving blankets or shrink wrap during the move, which caused several of my items to be damaged.

JT Melia sent a sales rep to our home to offer a quote for moving the contents of our home in Bellaire to a storage facility while we relocate to Oregon. The sales agent was very professional and presented himself well; He obviously saw the quality of furniture and belongings that we had in our home and assured us that his company would take special care in moving our treasured home furnishings to the storage facility. Then reality struck today!! NO SUCH THING AS CUSTOMER CARE!!!

Unfortunately our experience with JT Melia wasnt close to as good as most of the other reviewers, if these are in fact legitimate reviews. I hope others will read this review to be better informed before proceeding. We did a long distance move from Texas to Florida and utilized JT Melia for their packing and loading services. We called and did an in home estimate about three weeks prior to our move and a gentleman named Ray performed the estimate.

I chose to use Melia after a great reference from a friend and the many outstanding reviews on Google. Sadly my experience was far from outstanding and much less than even satisfactory. Men arrived on the agreed upon date to pack. When they left, they said they'd see me in two days. When they came back a day earlier than agreed to move me, I contacted Melia and even spoke to Brandon Melia, the president. He agreed to give me a discount for the inconvenience.

Use someone else. Countless things broken and damaged. During our move out they told us that couldn't move the items in the garage even though we had asked them to include it in the quote. This left us scrambling at the last minute to be moved out of our old house before the new buyers took possession. They ruined our stainless refrigerator, which I brought up immediately during the move in.

Rosemary was rough around the edges when talking with her, she did not listen when I told her my mom's situation but I was trying to find a full service moving co that could help my mom as I live out of state. She sent her guy to do an in home estimate which I was thankful she would do that right away. She called me back to tell me she can't help my mom because of all the boxes she has. Oddly I told Rosemary that she had a lot of boxes that needed moving.

I hired Johnny T. Malia Moving to handle a move from my home to a local storage facility. The 3 man crew I hired rushed through the move with breakneck speed, charged extra to wrap my furniture and didn't wrap it appropriately. As a result, my furniture was damaged, scratched and broken due to their lack of professional care. When I retrieved my furniture from storage, I was shocked at the amount of damage. I hired this company because they were established and highly rated.

Do not use this company ! They scratched my expensive desk, after I told their company multiple times, to be careful with this item ! The move cost $850, plus the pleasure of finding a business to repair the furniture. As you requested, I emailed you photos of the damage, without response! It was emailed to [email removed], on June 23rd at 12:09p.m. I have the confirmation email, and photos of the damage that were sent. I can post that as well.
