Merchants Moving & Storage, Inc.

The guys at Merchant Movers and Storage in Boise, Idaho really let me done. They misdiagnosed the amount of furniture I was moving and showed up in the afternoon on move day with an inadequate amount movers. The truck was already half full with someone else's furniture and so it took another truck scheduled 2 days out to pick up the rest of my belongings. That's bad enough but then they showed up late on the second day as well. they scratched and dented most of my belongings and even stole my rifle.

This was going to be a long review but no one reads those anyways so lets keep this short and sweet. +2 stars for a job well done physically (lots of stuff, no damage, hard workers) and mostly on time. -2 stars for bid/invoice bait and switch games and -1 star for billing integrity/logistics/IC attitude. Ultimately we felt they adjusted the invoice from the bid to obtain there non binding quote amount they wanted.

Ron Grove (owner, now retired), at Merchants facilitated a few moves for me over the past couple decades (local and inter-state), and all were amazing experiences. He was also understanding on a couple of occasions when I did not go with them. I have also referred many people to them, including friends that are like extended family to me, who Merchants has moved before. We recently reached out to get a quote to move them to their final home for retirement.

Worst moving company I have ever seen! Coming from a military background with 4 PCS moves under our belts, that says a lot. We were informed by their supervisor Justin that his crews would unpack and reassemble everything they packed and disassembled. We were promised that when we moved back into our home, everything would be placed back where it was before our reno.

Horrible customer service experience. I called and was scheduled for an in-person quote for a Monday which was then subsequently cancelled and rescheduled for Tuesday the next day at 930am. I then got a phone call from Justin the person that would be doing the quote stating he was on his way a little early and should be at my house by 9am.

Our experience has been horrible to say the least. Several items have came up missing such as a brand new hammock (still in the box), cooking equipment, clothing, etc. Several components of our household goods arrived that had been taken apart (by someone NOT authorized to do so) and left for us to try to find the pieces and put together ourselves without any instructions. We have a $2000 outdoor storage system that is missing some its hinges, keeping us from securing the doors, rendering it useless.

Be aware that they will try and give you promises they can't keep just to get your business. We were going to go with another local moving company for an out of state move because we didn't want to wait more than 3 days for our belongings to be delivered. But their sales person Jason kept contacting me and said he could make it work. So he got everything in writing that we would get our stuff delivered in that three day window. So we committed to them.
