MJC Moving Company and Storage is a straight-up scam. My grandmother hired them off Angie List, and the whole experience felt like a bait-and-switch nightmare from the jump. First off, they showed up 30 minutes late — not a great start. Then, just 15 minutes into the job, they tried to charge us for an extra hour. Didn’t even break a sweat yet and they were already pushing for more money. Shady. But wait — it gets worse. After offloading, they disappeared for SIX HOURS before coming back. Six. Whole. Hours.

If there was a negative star option, I would give this company exactly that. Do not go by the reviews and think you’ll be hiring such highly rated movers. I did exactly that and I company regret it now. They were so unprofessional and broke my furniture. When I pointed out all the things they broke to the guys, they were apologetic at all. They said to call their office and even if I did that, nothing would happen anyway.

MJ Movers is not on the up and up when it comes to their business practices. I was quoted $477 for the first 2 hours, and then $35 for every 15 minutes we went over. Because I had to work, my daughters had to oversee the move. They said it took 3 hours to load and drive 14 miles to the new apartment, then they refused to unload until they received a payment of $977, claiming it would take another 2 hours.

Hated working with them. They took over 6.5 hours to move a 2bd/2bth with 3 men and didn’t even move all items with the truck because “there wasn’t any room left.” Was later informed the two experienced movers let the “new guy” pack the truck (it was his 2nd week). After my mom and I spoke with the manager on and off all day, he dismissed our wishes of a refund and stated we needed to write a formal complaint.

I would not give them this one star. We moved recently from Decatur to Tucker. I told Susan that we had a lot of belongings and they estimated that we needed 2 trucks with 5 men for 10 hours at $299/hr. First, they arrived nearly 2 hours late. They shoved these ridiculous illegible papers in my face about insurance. Keep in mind that we were mostly packed, yet Brian insisted that it would be longer than they estimated. All they had to do was load the boxes, wrap the furniture, and disassemble the beds.

I don’t typically leave negative reviews, but after attempting to resolve the matter privately first, and no response, I believe future customers deserve to make an informed decision. I hired MJC Movers based on an estimate of approximately $420 for my move from a one-bedroom, 800 sq. ft. apartment with no stairs, a freight elevator, a loading dock, and delivery to a 1st floor storage unit. I understood the estimate could vary, but my final bill was approximately $1,400—more than three times the original quote.

The one star is not for the hard working gentlemen they sent, it is for the company it's self. They scheduled 2-4 as a window to show up, they shoed up at 4:15 and I had to call. They sent 2 workers who had been working all day to do a two apartment moving to one townhouse. They did not know they were emptying two apartments. Took three hours in the first apartment, complained the whole time because they were so tiered.

This company is HORRIBLE!!! They quoted me 4 men for 5 hours telling me it is their VIP team then the morning of they tell me its going to be 3 men that do the work of 5. This was a lie! To save time had broke down all the beds and taped all the screws to the poles to not lose them. THEY MOVERS TOOK THEM OFF AND LOST THEM! SO NOW WE CANT PUT THE BEDS BACK TOGETHER!!! THEY HAVE YOU PAY as soon as you get to the second stop and then they just stop caring about the work they do.
