We had been renting from them less than a month before they changed the rate of our storage unit as well as tacking on an insurance fee, we didn’t much mind the insurance fee as for something could happen. well it did our locker as well as several other locker where broken into abount a month 1/2 ago, we file a police report and let the storage place know to begin everything with insurance.

I just recently rented a storage at modbox In Gastonia on 7/14/23 I was not there a full month and it was broken into all my things were stolen out of my unit they’ve did little to nothing to help me recover my items I strongly advise no one to rent here ever they don’t have security watching units there is also no office on the premises they took days to return my calls regarding to my storage being broken into they did not alert other renters of the burglary no one came out to assist me talk with me they been…

Not sure why this place has a 4.6 star rating the amount of reviews with items stolen from the units is sad. On December 17th, 2025, my storage unit was broken into all my belongings was stolen. After going through a separation, I cut my losses, took what I had left, and put into this storage unit and moved into a hotel. I figured it's a nice location on a quiet country road. Not a busy area and my belongings will be safe there 😳 but boy, was I wrong.

On December 17th, 2025, my storage unit was broken into all my belongings was stolen. After going through a separation, I cut my losses, took what I had left, and put into this storage unit and moved into a hotel. I figured it's a nice location on a quiet country road. Not a busy area and my belongings will be safe there 😳 but boy, was I wrong. I didn't realize there's no cameras inside this facility, only outdoor cameras. Beware. I rented the largest storage unit here. When I arrived in the morning there was already a heavy lock on the unit. I called and called. It took days to actually get someone on the phone since they can only be reached by phone. Now its easy to get a hold of someone but impossible to get a supervisor to issue the refund. I've been calling almost everyday and they keep telling me a manager will call back same day which never happens. Seems like some kind of scam to me. Seriously be careful here!!!

I had my unit broken into and the people who stole my stuff took my TVs and all of my baby’s items which is on the way in a couple of months now I have to completely restart and spend even more money. They don’t wanna help the insurance company that they provide the information they need to continue with the process this has been a month.

The worst experience we ever had. Our prices changed 5 times in a single year. From raised rates, to 2 forced insurance additives, our pricing doubled. Anytime we went on site, there were never furniture dollys like when we first moved in. There's also people living out of some of these units. Constantly begging for stuff and snooping around, it's very concerning. Management doesn't care, they are very passive when you call and they even stated that only the maintenance member is on site from time to time.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We have been actively addressing these concerns and are confident many of them will be resolved shortly.
ModBox has no security cameras or anything. My unit was broken into and everything was stolen. Turns out that happens a lot at this place. Don’t give them your money.

Storage is located in a nice, quiet neighborhood, well lighted facility with cameras and access gate, grounds kept clean, and nice Maintenance Personnel. Headquarters Customer Service is always friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Have been renting with ModBox for awhile now, and have kept them even though I moved hours away.

I I just wish they would have some kind of a payment plan I am on a fix the income and there was an emergency came up with my family help pay for cremation and I got a little behind and I tried everything I could to get a loan .but that's not their fault I just wish they had payments thank you
