Move and Care - Austin Moving Company

I hired Move & Care for an interstate move from Texas to Washington in May 2025. I worked with a consultant named Benjamin, who initially quoted over $8,000 for a direct delivery move with a guaranteed delivery date of May 10. After negotiation, we agreed on $4,800 for the same service, with a $480 deposit and the balance due upon delivery. Both the signed Bill of Lading and written text confirmations specified direct delivery with no stops or storage.

We were originally scheduled to start our move 12:00. The day before they called to reschedule to start earlier at 8:00 that same day they called back again and scheduled for 12:00. The movers did not arrive until 4:00. We had multiple stops and gave the moving company exact addresses and detailed descriptions of all items that needed to be moved. We made it through our first few stops rather quickly with the last stop having the most items.

We had the WORST experience. We had a scheduled move, spoke with the lady who answered and we went over the items that needed to be moved. Bed furniture, entertainment stand etc. from a house to the 3rd level of an apartment etc. I got the quote, submitted the down payment and everyone was fat, dumb, and happy. Sunday rolls around and the movers were hours late (first move took longer than expected).

I moved from Austin, TX to Charlotte, NC in May 2024 and I had a TERRIBLE experience with Move and Care. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! We paid for packing, long distance move, and six months of storage while we renovated our house (very expensive). Most of our belongings were extremely DAMAGED upon arrival. There was WATER DAMAGE and MILDEW on several items (even though Move and Care stated that the storage was climate controlled).

I had moved as much as I could move alone from my first floor apartment to my 3rd floor apartment and the last bit of furniture and boxes I left for the movers. They claimed they charged for time spent they were here for 1 hour and only moved my furniture upstairs and I was supposed to be charged $129 for that hour and I was charged &377 when I still have to move my own boxes upstairs and they were in and out had they actually been here the 3 hours and moved everything it wouldn’t be an issue but they’re charging…

Man I hate to leave a bad review but these guys showed up and got into an argument with my wife and tried to say they wouldn’t do the work unless she paid more. There was some miscommunication between who she spoke to on the phone and the crew that showed up and the crew that showed up complained the entire time and yelled at my wife. I do understand if there’s a misunderstanding but my wife was honest about what we had in the trailer and where it needed to go.

They over committed to the services provided and completely under delivered. Their time estimates were compltely off. They may have been close to their time estimates if they didn't have to take a smoke break every 15 minutes. Multiple items were damaged in the move including our fridge doors, washer, and dryer. We paid $500 extra for "insurance". However, when we tried to make an insurance claim, they told us the best they could do was $800 on over $4,000 worth of damage.

Easily the worst and most unprofessional company I’ve worked with in a long time. I paid 5k+ for a long distance move and they couldn’t tell me when my stuff would arrive. My things weren’t delivered until 3.5 weeks after pickup. Throughout those 3+ weeks they wouldn’t return my emails, voicemails or anything else and acted like it was no big deal that I was living off an air mattress for nearly a month. Then when my things did get delivered multiple boxes were completely destroyed including my tv.
