Moxie Movers Inc.

Was so excited to use Moxie, as we’ve had numerous friends who used them and loved them. We used for packing and loading only. Showed up about 30 min late, and when they got to our house, I showed them around and pointed out the furniture wrap as well as 4 dozen moving blankets that we rented from U Haul. I was in the midst of cleaning our house, as we were driving 5 hours to our new house right when Moxie was done loading.

I had an appointment set up and I was very excited to move out however the apartment I signed the lease for was disgusting so I had to reschedule for another day to move into another day. I already paid like $400 as a deposit and when I explained my situation they just told me that I lost my deposit and that I would have to give them another one if I want to reschedule. I let them know the day before and the morning of and they were so inconsiderate of my situation.

Had a great conversation via email with a “manager” then they arrived and i wasn’t packed enough for them. However there was furniture and boxes that could have been moved. They got in their car and dipped. Not before calling me disrespectful for wasting their time. Yet no one came out and did an onsite visit. Had another company do a site visit to assess and scheduled that day.

They did not make us aware that they don’t have trucks big enough to move all of our stuff in one trip. So they forced me to get a second crew and I’m responsible for paying for travel time. I’m not going to short term the movers so I ended up tipping two crews. Crews were great but the company is really designed for small moves, homes less than 3000 square feet. Bill ended up costing 40% more than the agreed price of $2500.

I would give 5 STARS for the mover guys but 0 STAR for the owner/office person. The owner was not timely in communication and does not pick up ANY phone calls (everything goes to the voicemail). I received an automated reminder email 7 days before my moving date and that was the last communication I received from the office. I tried to reach the office multiple times over the phone, texts, and emails a day before my move but none of my attempts were answered.

I thought it would be a smooth move, having used Moxie in previous moves. But they have not only gone downhill on quality, they actually go out of their way to make everything take longer to raise your bill. This move went over budget by about $800 and they were deliberately going slow. One of the movers took the entire bed apart piece by piece despite me telling him not to. That in itself took an entire hour.

At approx. 9:30am on the morning of 1-4-23 headed towards Powhatan on Hugenot Rd, I encountered a truck owned by this establishment traveling well under the posted speed limit, veering across both lanes, which nearly caused multiple fatalities. To the owner: Please ensure your drivers are trained to drive vehicles of this size, as what I observed was ultimately your truck coming to nearly a dead stop in the middle of a road where vehicles are traveling at nearly 60 MPH. Vehicles were swerving to avoid your truck.

The guys that came over had a good attitude BUT one of the movers did something I did not like and it was pretty disgusting. I heard him indicate to one of his coworkers that he needed to use the restroom but didn’t ask me. A little while later, I saw him come out and there was an odor like he had taken a dump. What made it worse is that I did not have soap or toilet paper out as I had packed everything away. I didn’t like that and it unprofessional. I still tipped them all, though.
