Reliable Van & Storage

I didn’t choose Reliable as my mover. I contacted Allied Van Lines but they are a broker that referred my move to Reliable. I got my initial date range to receive my things at my destination in NC and moved it to an earlier date, so I’d have my furniture before Christmas. The day of my move, the movers were three hours late. I finally got to my destination and figured that I’d get settled in and my things would get here soon after.

I will begin by saying that my move was slightly complex. Two different houses were moved into long-term storage in NJ. All the details about the moves were discussed upfront and agreed to. The moves went smoothly. However, fast forward a few years when it was time to move into a new home and remove my items from storage, the company held my items hostage in storage, demanding that I pay an addition $6k+ to have the items delivered.

In response to the business owners reply to my first review (below), you did move my mother from Penfield NY (in Rochester) to Clifton NJ. She was charged $6000 and taken advantage of by this company, as she had no idea what the total cost would be or that it was being moved so far away. Why would someone have their things moved and stored in another state for absolutely no reason? By the way, we STILL don’t have her things back and they won’t provide any estimate as to when we will have them delivered.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. We used them on a recent move from U.S to UK and had no end of issues after we signed up with them, firstly they were really inconsistent in terms of responding to general questions initially, as well as sending us incorrect documentation for us to fill out. Then fast forward to moving day, started well and it was not until we received our items the other end in the UK when we uncovered how poorly our belongings had been packed and how badly they had been labelled.

UPDATE- the items were a sofa and three chairs. The sofa was disassembled and reassembled by your movers. All items were noted as damaged on the delivery form when delivered. Please don’t lie as I have all the paperwork. Very disappointed with the claims department. Items damaged and after seven months of filing claim form, reaching out multiple times they refused to cover an expensive item even though we had used their insurance.

I called Allied Movers, and I received a quote from Dean. My initial quote for a full pack move was $6,143.68. I agreed to it and asked him to send me the contract. When I received the contract, it was $7,062.62. I ask why the amount had significantly gone up. He said he accidentally left off some of the packing. I ended up going with this move even though I was disappointed to come out of pocket $900 more. I told him I understand that mistakes happen, but when the movers showed up Dean tried to add $750 more.

I reached the character limit when replying to Mr. Toscano's reply on my review. Here is the rest of it... 5) "the CDL driver was adamant that a larger truck would not have worked." I never had a conversation with the CDL driver (who arrived on Tuesday). I was never able to show him that our driveway extended far beyond the visible portion, where it was hidden by gravel and woodchips. 6) "we have pictures showing that as true".

Moved from New York to Florida this past November. Took out insurance at the suggestion of company. I had mostly boxes and containers. Well they lost several boxes containing items that have been in my family the past 40 years. These were mostly my childrens christmas ornaments and things they made over the years. I contacted company by Christmas to notify them of loss.
