I used this company back when we moved to my current house, it has been over a year since and I am still working on fixing everything from that horrible experience. I picked this company because they were recommended and the owner came to do the quote and seemed nice enough and said he was “available 24/7” (but I guess 24/7 did not include working hours, because when it was time to make the payment and I had questions because the number was off, he couldn’t be reached all of a sudden.) Josh talks a great game but isn’t truthful on his estimate. Turns around & blames his customer for being grossly under estimated amount. Our items were in his storage facility for 4 months which were moved at some point during that 4 months resulting in MANY missing item’s. We get a call the night before saying everything wouldn’t fit in the truck. WTH!? showed up out of state with a dining room table, no chairs, no glass shelves to my China cabinet.
Horrible experience! We used this company about 3 weeks ago and will now be filing a claim in small claims court. They damaged multiple items and have yet to correct the issue. My daughter saved up money to buy her own dresser and they damaged the leg in at least 2 spots. The dresser was only a couple months old and in perfect condition. Unfortunately, you can't just order the leg so the dresser is ruined. She also bought my husband a recliner for Father's Day which they ripped in 2 spots.
I must have received their service on a really off day. Initial discussion with Josh reflected a very professional moving company. The day before the move Josh called and stated they would be a little late arriving (this is a full pack and move) around noon or 1 P.M.; they arrived around 2:30 P.M. and the movers thought the house was already packed. Several items left behind and some items damaged. Workers worked hard but some were not professional movers. Several miscommunication steps happened during the process.
I have been told on multiple occasions that they will reach back out regarding issues with our truck packing and have heard nothing in weeks. Would not recommend due to the poor customer service after the move is complete. Update: The company finally returned my call after a negative review and stated that they will not continue conversation of resolution without me taking down my review.

I'd probably hire again because the free packing supplies was a life saver and paying by the hour appeals to me personally because I'm willing and able to help to cut cost. However, I feel like they could have done a better job communicating & being organized. They also broke my desk wrapping it.
We had yet another wonderful experience with Southern Maryland Moving Company!! Josh, Brandy, Chris and Barry are simply the best! They happily accommodated us when we had to change our move date and their responsiveness to our calls and messages was so appreciated. Moving from MD to NC was a bit stressful for our family but they gave us peace of mind every step of the way.
