Worst experience I've ever have after many moves and movers. We experienced incredible damage to our furniture and other belongings, a final bill that was double the estimate and several delays which caused our two day move to extend to four days.This was two years ago, as the mover has noted, but after unpacking the nearly 300 boxes they so inexpertly packed (one huge one with nothing but an empty wheeled suitcase in it) we had catalogued and discussed the damage with them.
This move was 2 years ago. All issues pertaining to this move were addressed and resolved at that time.
My partner and I had hired this company to move from our studio apartment to a one bedroom. Before the date of the move, they had almost no communication with us or our building up until the day before the move. The day of our move they had informed us that they would need to disassemble our bed frame and L-shaped desk. After they moved our furniture over we realized they had snapped my desk in pieces instead of disassembling it and had also damaged our bed frame. We also had missing pieces of our bed frame.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! *Everything* was broken. We have reached out multiple times over 2 months to get support and compensation with no response. We paid over $5000 for two days of packing our home and then loading a container. They sent 4 guys -- NONE of whom had professional training in packing. After unpacking, we discovered that almost all our furniture and belongings are damaged due to careless packing and handling.
My husband hired this company to move our stuff from storage into our new house. They agreed to send two trucks for four storage units for $250 per hour. When the first truck was full, the movers (who were actually really nice) called for the second truck. The owner got on the phone and refused to send it. He told my husband they would have to finish the move on a Monday and that it would be more money (today is Saturday).
This happened in August 2022. The crew was asked to pick up and deliver 4 items from Manlius to Marietta, NY. One large item was supposed to be taken apart at the pick up site so that it could be moved upstairs where it was delivered. They chose not to do that and LIED to the owners that the the person at the pick up site told them not to. When the delivery arrived, there were some damaged boards on it. Because it was not a taken apart, it could not be carried upstairs. They knew about the upstairs!

I had a very disappointing experience with Square Deal Moving. During the move, their crew caused damage to our home, including scratched floors, dents in the walls, and damaged furniture. Mistakes can happen, but the real issue has been how the situation was handled afterward. I contacted the company about the problems, and while they initially responded, the process since then has been extremely slow and remains unresolved since June (it is now September).
DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY! We initially hired Square Deal because we wanted to hire insured movers. We would have been better off without hiring them. Their movers scratched our new hardwood floors (which could have been prevented by disassembling it or protecting it). I informed the company of the damage right away, and was told they would submit the claim to their insurance. After months of numerous emails and phone calls they sent someone out to “fix” our floor.
Booked with Square Deal about a week before a move in the Syracuse area with Square Deal to load up my possessions the night before a closing on my house to be sold and to finish the move the morning beforehand. Two days before this, Square Deal switched it to both pack and move on the same morning before the 9 a.m. closing. Cutting it tight, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. 6:15 a.m. the morning of the sale rolls around with no movers.
We treat all our customers equally and would never cancel a smaller job for a bigger job. We Called customer the day before confirming the correct time. He approved. We spoke the day of the move and he told us not to bother showing up. Then he had a friend call us asking why we weren’t there!

The office staff was very polite and accommodating, providing me with an accurate estimate and answering all of my questions over the phone. On the day of the move, the crew arrived on time and got to work right away. They were efficient and took great care with all my belongings, carefully packing all my boxes and ensuring that everything was secured for the move.

During my move with Square Deal Moving, a top-rated long distance mover based in Syracuse, there was a sudden, unexpected twist that left me in awe of their professionalism and dedication to their customers. As the crew was carefully carrying my large and expensive antique wardrobe down the stairs of my apartment, disaster struck. One of the legs broke, causing the entire piece to tilt dangerously to one side. I was in shock, unsure of how to proceed.
"It was my first time moving out of an apartment, and a friend suggested I use Square Deal Moving because she had a good experience with them than the other Syracuse moving companies. I liked how clear and organized the process was. I had to change my estimate a few times, but each time I called, the staff was helpful and easy to work with. I liked that they called me days ahead of time to confirm the scheduling and make sure the list of things I had was up to date.
