In their own words
If I could give a negative, I would. It's awful . They treat you like an animal standing hours in the heat and no shade or place to sit. If you can't stand for more than 2 hours in heat without shade, don't come here. Rangers are beyond any kind of rude from hollering at you in security to shouting at you to hurry get in and if the boat. Bathrooms look like they were last cleaned a century ago. If you like spending $25 per person to be treated like a cow, by all means, take this ferry ride.
Like any other public area in a less than average neighborhood, this is a great place for homeless people to stay. They get kicked out of the terminal so they wander or lay camp in the hallways or bus areas that lead into the terminal. There is no security out there so there are a lot of people who smoke by the waiting area. The smoke accumulates in the hallway to the terminal. If you can hold you breath for 15 seconds you'll be ok.
The people who open and close the gates at the ferry terminal dont care if your running for the ferry they wont hesitate to shut the gate in your face...without waiting 1 to 2 seconds more... some people work and live deep into the bronx …
If you like people loitering and breaking rules, you've come to the right place ! I recommend the nearby fast ferry, not free but steps away, cleaner, quieter, and safer.
Went during Christmas time. Was too packed and couldn't see statue of liberty. You must locate a seat near a window to see it. I would recommend going when it's not crowded
Can I give zero stars? Awful organization. Crowds. Ended up lining up for 40 min, ferry was cancelled and crowds filled the hall so I left. There was no point…
Some of the most unreliable busses in the entire city, if you can drive to work DO IT or be at the mercy of Bottom barrel service from the MTA
