I had a very disappointing experience with The Moving General, and I strongly advise others to be cautious when hiring them. They were scheduled to arrive at 9:00 AM, but didn’t show up until 11:00 AM — two hours late, with no communication or apology. Ryan, the owner of the company, was rude, unprofessional, and disrespectful from the start.
Karina, first off we’d like to apologize for any inconvenience our team may have caused you throughout your moving process. However, we believe that you may have conveniently left out a few key factors and things that went on during your move.
We used this company to move from SI, NY to NJ. The owner and his crew were extremely unprofessional - walking around the house with no shirt on, with the crew complaining about not wanting to do the work. When they got to the new house, they threw stuff everywhere and anywhere. Boxes were broken and disheveled and some of our things were broken.
Hi Lauren, We are deeply sorry that you feel this way. I will say that our staff asked you on several different occasions to be alert and attentive in your home while we were dropping off your boxes. So we took it upon ourselves to place the boxes where we felt best.
Unfortunately I would not use these guys again. I actually liked them because they were nice. However, a lot of things went wrong. A 4 hour move turned into a 7.5 hour move. They were an hour and a half late because they put a last minute appointment before ours. We booked our appointment a week prior. Our furniture got scratched up. Floors were scratched. Desk broke and is scratched. I also told them beforehand to take the top piece off of the desk before carrying out. They said it would be fine.
Joe, we are truly saddened over the fact you are not satisfied with our services. We have already offered to buy you a brand new desk. I’m hoping this helps a bit. We’d like to wish you and your fiancé a Merry Christmas, as well as a Happy New Year. We wish you guys good luck.
⭐ (0/5) — DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Property destruction, fraud, and zero accountability. If I could give zero stars, I would. This is a detailed account so that no one else makes the mistake we did. 1) They came completely unprepared. Before the move, my fiancé FaceTimed the owner, Ryan, to show him exactly what we had. He confirmed he would bring 20 boxes, included in our estimate. On move day, they arrived 2 HOURS LATE — not with a moving truck, but with a pickup truck and two dirty, lidless plastic bins.
Hello, we are disappointed to see this review and the inaccurate statements made about our company. At The Moving General we take every customer’s concern seriously and always strive to provide professional, careful, and reliable moving services.
My experience with this moving company was extremely disappointing. Several pieces of furniture were damaged during the move, and some items went missing altogether. The owner Ryan assured me that their insurance would cover the damages and that the situation would be addressed. However, despite multiple attempts to contact the owner, Ryan, there has been no follow-up or response. The lack of accountability and communication is unacceptable.
Kevin, this is now the second review coming from the one and only moving service we’ve provided for you. Your wife, Karina Tejada, left us a one star review not too long ago expressing her frustration regarding the service that we provided for you.
I booked them to move me and my family on March 28th. They weren’t able to move and they didn’t communicate very well about it. We requested a refund for the deposit we put down so we could book a different moving company. They processed the refund and two days later they took the money back. I still haven’t gotten my deposit back for the service I never had. Ryan (who I spoke to) was nasty and uncooperative. I wouldn’t recommend anyone to book these people I feel they scammed me.
This issue was resolved. Sorry for the inconvenience Mrs Burns.
They showed up to my house an hour late. They all seemed High out of their minds. The kid Ryan was talking a mile a minute I told them I'd feel more comfortable rescheduling, however I didn't tell them I felt more comfortable rescheduling with a different more professional company
James, our team alerted you & told you two days in advance that we would be a bit late. You seemed to have been fine with it. Not to mention, your wife actually liked this due to the fact you weren’t fully ready for the movers. Also James, the kid you are referring to is certainly no kid.

My experience with The Moving General was amazing from start to finish. First I called Ryan at 11:30am he answered my call right away and we discussed about the prices and scope of the moving work he gave me great price then i said will call you back and I got surprised he answered my call at 1:30 Am. After another moving company failed us big time the day of our move, I frantically called Ryan asking for assistance. Immediately he heard me out, consoled me lol and sprung into action. Somehow he fit me in that day and was able to move my husband and I from a 2 bedroom apt to our house. He kept me posted with updates regarding the time of the move and made it happen! His team worked carefully and efficiently to quickly get us out of apt into our new place.

We had contacted other movers to move a very heavy treadmill from a location near the faragain Staten Island to our home about 40 minutes away. The day of our move the people who were going to do this for us did not show up. We started looking for someone else to do this move for us, after short online search we will contact it and found moving general, we called and within 2 hours they were able to arrange for the move of our treadmill not only picking it up mustering the necessary crew to do this and having the…
