I had one of the most horrible experiences with a business ever with Stumpf. I am writing this review with all earnestness and concern for those who may consider using Stumpf Moving for either moving or storage services. If you have anything of monetary value or any items that hold personal or sentimental value, I implore you NOT to entrust them to Stumpf Moving and Storage. Stumpf moved our items into our new home on August 22, 2013.
Stumpf Moving & Storage prides itself on handling all customer claims in a manner that is fair to all parties involved. We are now in the 4th generation of the Stumpf Family moving the greater Pittsburgh area families and businesses.
I called stumpf to arrange to move a piano that I am purchasing from a stranger. they couldn't even offer me a ballpark time as to when they might be coming. I was told they would let me know the afternoon before. When I questioned how I was supposed to ask a stranger to just be on hold all day long waiting for them to finally schedule, I was told that I should just contact another piano mover since I don't like their business practices. Very unprofessional.
Stumpf Moving & Storage takes pride in being the Greater Pittsburgh area's premier piano mover. We move 5- 6 pianos on any given day for people that are buying pianos from "strangers" all over western PA, Ohio and W VA.
Would never recommend this company. They are unprofessional and lie. If you need to cancel, they will not return your deposit, no matter how far in advance you cancel. Also, if you live in a nice area, they will request to do an in-person consultation. This is so they can assess your home and inflate their fees based on the quality of your living.
Oh my! This review is so untrue I don't know where to begin. Ashlee, you cancelled your move 6 business days before your scheduled move date and your deposit was mailed back to you. As you know, the deposit was returned back to us because the US Postal Service wasn't able to deliver it to you as…
The experience with this company had good and bad experiences...more bad than good...certain employees should not be there...and when doing moves across states there should have been more care with stuff...I will leave the rest alone

Stumpf Moving is one of the few, if not only, company to offer hoisting services for furniture moves in the Pittsburgh area. I live a townhouse with narrow stairwells and corners and have a very difficult time getting furniture in and out of the home. The Stumpf crew was professional, punctual, friendly, efficient, they very carefully and exceptionally padded and wrapped the item that needed to be hoisted over a 2nd level deck (it was a sectional sofa piece), they padded the deck and deck railing.

Our moving experience with Stumpf was wonderful from start to finish. We were pleased with the contact from the main office with call backs and a visit to our place to view what needed to be done ahead of moving day. You can choose them to pack (which we did not do) or to just have them wrap your furniture and you do your own packing. They had a fair price and if it takes less time to do the job than estimated it was adjusted to what was actually done.
We can’t thank you enough for the glowing feedback! At Stumpf Moving & Storage, we strive to make moving day as stress-free as possible, so hearing that you enjoyed watching the team work in unison is the best compliment we could receive.
Editing to mention that one of the owners Sean reached out to me to make the situation right which I really appreciate. I think there were probably some things both of us could have communicated better at the time. He came over and touched up my steps. No business is going to be perfect 100% of the time, but Stumpf was willing to have a reasonable conversation, and to go the extra mile to make things right.
My son and daughter-in-law hired Stumpf Moving & Storage for their move from a townhome to a new build, and since we were in town helping out, we got to see everything firsthand. I just wanted to say how great the entire experience was. Sean and his crew of four were incredible from start to finish. They were professional, efficient, and really paid attention to the details. They handled everything with care, especially some heavier equipment that had to be moved up and down stairs.
