Sumo might be fine for a local move but they moved my things to Portland, OR in a U Haul truck with poor padding. All my wooden furniture was scratched, gauged, rubbed or corners broken.When I heard that the boys stayed in the Hilton and flew home, I knew why I was paying $8700.00. I am very disappointed .
We are sorry to hear of the poor experience. We used a U-Haul truck as ours was booked the week of your move already. We made that aware to you during the walkthrough and we thought you understood. Unfortunately, in transit the padding shifted on some pieces and caused damage.
Showed up on time. Only had time to move big stuff. Left us with everything else to move knowing I was old and my husband was just out of the hospital after having a heart attack. Over charged us by charging us for all the time the owner spent on the phone. Worst moving experience ever.
I am sorry to hear that you had a negative experience. I looked at our schedule and see the move was back at the end of last year. We always hope to catch any problems along the way and address them as soon as possible. With a wait like this, all we can do is pass on our apologies.
These guys dropped/bounced my piano down the stairs and then tried to give us $100 off… it was literally a nightmare. It’s lucky no one got hurt. We told them we are going to be moving a full size piano and needed at least three or four guys and they sent two. They were slow because they did not send enough people thus racking up the price. They said it would take two hours ended up taking four hours and still tried to charge us for the time even after dropping the piano!!

I would absolutely avoid this company at all costs. I had hired them to do a move for a family member. Said family member ended up in ICU in critical condition, so obviously there wasn’t going to be a move when someone is incapacitated in hospital. Was still charged the full amount for the move when nothing was done. Was told there was nothing that could be done and they had to adhere to policy even with imminent death. I could never recommend a business that so easily capitalizes on someone’s death bed.

Needed a 3 bedroom house moved into a storage unit. Movers arrived with a 17’ truck and 2 men charging by the hour to do this move. They wanted to make two trips instead of sending a bigger truck to do in one move. I am having to hire another moving company to finish this the correct way. I was told “Customers are not always right” and “This was my fault as well” Take this for what it is worth. I would not recommend using this company.

Between the damage to trim in our home (which they deny), their sham of having the smallest moving truck known to man which will cost you a grip more than any other moving company , and them not assembling anything correctly....I would stay clear.

They charge $115/hour but it's only two men, the owner and his assistant. The owner stood in the storage unit most of the time and handed boxes to the assistant who moved them onto the truck. They provided the truck, so that's something. …
We are sorry to hear you were dissatisfied with the service. However, I the owner was not on this job. It was two of my employees. Now if there was a concern, someone should have reached to me and discussed their issues and no one did.

Rachel: I am sorry to hear you feel the service was not to your standards. Our crew put items in storage as they saw fit. If there was no one there to give instruction or give them pre-instructions prior to them unloading then the crew would not know how you would want the items.

I needed a very basic piano move. I contacted a handful of other movers and piano stores in the area and Sumo Moving was the only one that gave me a reasonable price. The communication was good, they showed up on time and the job was done in 30 minutes.

So happy I chose to hire Sumo movers! They took such good care of all my furniture - especially the antique pieces. They were on time, efficient, polite and accommodating. I’m not ever moving again but if I was I would use them again!

These guys did an awesome job for us! They were super careful with my highly valuable items and took extra care to wrap and load them. I won’t use anyone else for my moves from now on! I highly recommend!!

These guys are genuinely the best! We’ve had them move two - not easy at all - antique items into our home. They’re respectful, kind, and care about moving things safely, and without damage. Highly recommend them to anyone looking, they are worth every penny!
