Sunflower Moving and Storage

This company said they would move me for $6500. And salesman said they would pack the remaining items. The salesman wanted that money up front. The parking crew arrived a day and a half late. They said all things they packed would be an additional charge. By the time they put individual stickers on every item. Such as every shovel and rake was individual items. Not anything packed as one unit. A 4' shell unit in the garage was listed as 10 separate items.

This company is a third party mover. They bid you one price, then double the cost when they arrive. They are managed by a foreign national from Chicago and hire other foreigners to transport your property. They damaged many items and refuse to pay for the damages. This company will use extortion to get more money from you as they hold your property for ransom for weeks. They will lie and want their payments in cash or money Orders. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! THEY ARE CRIMINAL AND ARE A SCAM

Salesman quoted a price with loading and unloading dates. We agreed to those terms and then experienced the bait and switch when the crew showed up on loading day. The “crew” consisted of a kid in crocs and a guy talking out of both sides of his mouth with a lengthy contract in hand. At this point, it is too late to change plans and go with PODS or U-Haul.

Do not use Sunflower as a moving company unless you want to have the worse experience of your life. My move was from Kansas City to Tucson Arizona. Starting with the salesman refusing to come to the house for a quote but guaranteeing the price over the phone for a full pack of a 2500 sq ft home, moving a few items of furniture, the rest stayed with new buyers. The packers/movers, only 2 men, arrived a day after our agreed upon moving day, at 1 pm the day before we close and had to be out of the house.

Hired this company to move my daughter from Kansas City MO to Memphis TN this past summer. While they did show up for the move in a timely manner, they broke several items while loading things in the truck. This was a big red flag to start. The items were to be delivered about a week later, which I was advised is standard. My daughter left KC the day after the truck was loaded and planned to stay a few days with someone she knows in TN while waiting for her stuff.

Sunflower is a very poor moving company. We moved from St Jospeh, Mo to Bonita Spring, Fl. Sunflower moved 60 items and lost 3 of the 60. 1 box was a large 4 ft by 4 ft by 6-inch picture box. The second box was about 5ft tall 1 ft wide and 5 inches thick with 3 weights and pendulum for a grandfather clock. The 3rd item was a larger 3 step-step stool about 40” tall and 18” wide. How can you lose 3 items that big.

Dealing with them was a pure nightmare. Avoid at all cost. Austin is a con man and nothing he says is binding. In fact no verbal communication with this firm is binding. It is in their contract. They showed up five hours late for the pick up and only one guy showed up at 11 pm when our pick up window was 2-6pm. They don’t tell you when they are coming until 24 hours before the pick up window and they require a 48 hour window for the pick up.

I wish that I had read reviews on Sunflower Moving and Storage before I wasted $8,891 for them to pick up my stuff from an Overland Park, KS storage unit, repack and inventory my boxes, store my possessions for less than a month at their facility, and put my stuff back into a different local Kansas City, MO storage facility not far from the pickup location.
