Mike Hammer Moving

I chose Mike Hammer Moving because of their great reviews, so I went into the move with pretty high expectations. Unfortunately, the communication throughout the day made the experience much more stressful than it needed to be. My move‑in window was scheduled from noon to 3:00, and I even called ahead to let them know I would be running a little late. By 1:00, I still hadn’t heard anything, so I called for an update and was told the movers would arrive between 2:00 and 3:00.

My husband's review is below, but I need to correct the facts presented. The estimate given, on invoice 64446-0, estimate no. 9446, was 5289.50, not as Mike said (6750.00)...and the amount charged was 8300.00. That is a 60% increase over what we were bid. Bill specifically asked Jake how accurate we could expect that to be, Jake responded that he had done this for a long time, implying he was usually accurate. Bill called the company, Jake said that he would get back to him on the price.

Thieves. First, I scheduled a move and they got the address wrong. Guy said not to worry about it. I pay the $103 deposit. A few days later I contact them to reschedule, and after a few days of no response I finally get it rescheduled with the correct address. I email to cancel. No response. I call later that day to find out I'm not even on the schedule. I cancel then, and the guy on the phone said my deposit will be refunded.

I hired Mike’s Hammer Moving Company for a same-day move during an emergency. I was moving one couch and a king-size bed to an apartment just 10 minutes away. When I called, I asked for an hourly quote and about a possible two-hour estimate. The company assured me that, with two professional movers, the job would take only one hour. When the movers arrived, they took significantly longer than promised. I was shocked to receive a bill far exceeding the original quote.

These guys were absolutely terrible. They forgot three items I asked them to move at our apartment. Broke my wife’s vanity in half, for which the mover tried to blame my wife for how the piece of furniture was built and for which he never explicitly took responsibility. And then they demanded payment immediately when I asked for an invoice so I could figure out how much we paid for the vanity for the appropriate discount.

I recently used Mike Hammer moving to move my daughter. I had used them before and my previous experience was very good. This couldn’t have gone worse. First they showed up in the morning despite having an afternoon appointment. Once they got to the apartment, my daughter unfortunately realized the elevator wasn’t working. From entry to my daughter’s apartment is one flight of stairs. The movers began complaining to my daughter as if it was her fault.

I dont normally leave reviews, but this experience called for it. My mom was moving out of a very bad condominium complex into a senior care facility. When we initially called Mike Hammer Moving, we explained to them that needed her entire condo moved, with packing services. Mike, took the information over the phone. we told him it was a 900 sq ft condo with 1 bedroom, 1 bathroom, kitchen, living room, and an office.

Be very careful dealing with this company. The moving crew provided was friendly and did a good job. Unfortunately, their bid provided up front was 50% lower than what they charged us at the end. Somehow a couple of hours they didn't factor into their bid of 9-10 hours translated into a 50% upcharge to us at the end. That math doesn't work, and they would rather fight with you than try and explain why they'd upcharge by such a huge amount.
