This Side Up Moving & Storage - Huntsville Movers

I hired This Side Up for a local move to pack up my old house, move into storage and move out of storage into my new house a few months later. Overall I am extremely disappointed with how my items were packed and handled. I understand that things happen and some incidental damage may occur, however nearly every piece of furniture I had moved was damaged along with several poorly packed items. The amount of damage done seems to be the result of just plain negligence and incompetence on the movers part.

First, let me say that I used this company previously and had a great experience when they moved my office to a new location. I assumed I would have another great experience which was not the case. We asked Colby to give us a quote to move our household to the Nashville area. His price was a little bit above budget, but we negotiated a good price with some concessions on what he would move. Everything looked good. On the moving day, the crew showed up late to start packing.

Front office staff are great. The guys they send out, however, are not great. They were disrespectful and complaintive. They were efficient but at the cost of trashing my little girls' rooms to get furniture out, breaking one of the girl's beds, and breaking a flat screen TV. The bed is made of mostly particle board and that's "flimsy" and they're not responsible for any damage to particle board furniture per their contract. They're also not responsible for TVs or other electronics that are not in boxes.

They gave me a quote for $6000 as the highest amount that our bill would be. Ashley indicated that the bill is normally a lot less, but this would be the highest amount we would be charged. We had everything packed up in boxes in the garage for them to load into the truck. They did not have to pack up anything or go through the house to find things to put into the truck. Everything was in the garage.

This Side Up Moving accepted a residential move for our family site-unseen. They sent 2 guys for a 4 person job. The movers were polite, and we treated them kindly (bought breakfast, lunch, $100 tip).They moved mostly large items--furniture, refrigerator, and washer/dryer from a 3 bedroom home into another home. The new home (with recently completed renovations) is a 2-story with the kitchen on the second floor, not an unusual set up for the area of Huntsville where it sits.

When you choose a moving company you're trusting them with all your possessions. In January we sold our home and hired This Side Up to move all our possessions to a nearby rental house (it was like living in a warehouse) while we waited for our new home to be ready. Five months later we self- moved from the rental to our new house. We discovered one box was missing - my wife's coin collection. We had to call This Side Up company twice to have them look for the box.

I need to up date my review. The owner did contact me. He asked if he replaced my washing machine would I remove my review. I told him I would. He meet me at Home Depot where I had purchased my washer and dryer three months prior to our meeting. He was very upset that the washer was no longer on sale. I paid $600 on sale, and it is normally $800. He spoke with the store manager to see if he would give him the machine for the sale price. The manager of Home Depot said no.

I would not recommend. The actual move took exactly twice as long as their written estimate. Furniture and walls were left with nicks and scratches. The glass storm door was left hanging with hinges removed. An antique chair was left on the front porch. Although they tied up cords on lamps to move, the lamps were left in the house. I realize the movers were frustrated with the length of the job (14 hours), but they got really careless at the end and DID NOT do a good job.
