In their own words
I first saw them on Groupon and started to purchase the deal. Wanted to call and speak with them first regarding their policy on moving distance to see if they would try to treat it as an out of state move because of the distance. They didn't, which is the only thing that gained them the 1 star. I asked them to honor the Groupon price and they denied me saying the deal was no longer available on Groupon but it was and it still was listed the day of my move Smh!
Good afternoon, With an out of state move it has to be a certain mileage before we can do that. Your move, however, was not over that mileage count. This was explained over the phone.
We hired Skinny Wimp to move us in town. They were on par with the price at the end of the move in relation to the quote (even after a 1.5 hour lunch). They were supposed to start by 9:30 am but didn't arrive until nearly 10:30, which put us way behind schedule. We were at our closing for the loading of most of our furniture, but we were on site for the unloading. We had 2 trucks and 5 movers (Kendrick, Corey, Nelson, Dutch, Hunter).
I have hired this company few years back even though they showed up late like 12 hours late. I decided to hire them back knowing things can happen. So back in April I hired them for the second time, They showed up like 45mins late this time they moved my furniture. During the move they damaged a new dresser in my daughters nursery which I had just bought. They gave me a claim form to fill out and take pictures which I did, I was told it will take 6-8 weeks to process my claim.
Absolutely would never recommend Skinny Whimp Moving! Was told I was scheduled for 2pm today, was never called to say they were running late, when I called I was told the movers were still at the first job and that times were variable (wasn’t told that when I booked), so I was told I’d be called back with an ETA (never called). Then I was called back at 4 and told my move needed to be moved to tomorrow! 🤬 Umm absolutely not!
I am very disappointed with this company. I contracted with them and paid for a move that was to occur on June 1, 2021. They called me the day before my scheduled move (Memorial Day) to tell me they could not move me the next day. Allegedly an employee quit unexpectedly. I told them that I had to be out of my house on the scheduled move date. They said there was nothing they could do but refund my money, which they did.
I initially scheduled a move for the morning time and I got a call a few days before the move saying they over booked and would have to do my move in the afternoon. The day before they called to confirm and said they should have some one out around 2pm … by 3:30 on moving day they still had not showed or called so I did she told be they looked to be an hour away but would confirm and let me know. Finally at 4 pm I got a call saying they weee 10 min away.
I generally do not like posting negative reviews, but our move did not go smoothy at all, and the company has not taken responsibility for their part. I had a local move only about 10 miles from each house. When the crew arrived on moving day, they came unprepared to provide packing services and were unaware this was supposed to be part of the job. This was in the original scope of work, and I have all the evidence of such. They did not bring sufficient moving or packing supplies.

The delivery guys was at my home on time. Very nice and helpful, but one of my items was damaged in the set up. I filed a claim. They only have one person who handles their claims. There is no direct phone number to the claims representative. Your only source of communication to claims is email. The response/ reply time is not good at all. I've called several times to the company to get an updated status on my claims check. I have been advise the claims rep works from and they will try to get in touch with her.

I recently used Skinny Wimp Moving for my move, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the experience! From start to finish, their team provided top-notch service. Christine, in the office was professional, courteous, and incredibly helpful in answering all my questions. She made the booking process smooth and stress-free, ensuring I had all the information I needed, and even followed up when time was escaping me. On moving day, the movers arrived on time and were efficient, careful, and respectful of my belongings.
I cannot say enough good things about this group of guys Corey, John and Zack. They did a fantastic job! Paid great attention to detail, wrapped all my furniture with blankets and plastic wrap. They were fast and efficient (I lived on the 3rd floor of an apartment complex). They followed directions very well. I was very impressed not only with their service but also their very reasonable pricing! Autumn (scheduler) was great with communication. I would definitely hire them again. I moved on 11/16/2024.
There’s a 3 hour minimum to book, and they will help you pack too. I had to pack fast and I cushioned my fragile items with my clothes and barely any bubble wrap. I don’t even think I did a great job doing it. But they handled my stuff with such care, that not a single item was damaged during loading and unloading. I didn’t know how to take apart my heavy metal storage shelving but they did it so quickly to help save me time and money.
We cannot say enough about Andy Pineda, David, and the entire team at True South Moving — they were absolutely exceptional from start to finish. This was our first time having movers in our home, and we are very particular about our belongings. Andy's patience and customer service were truly the best we have ever experienced. He took such incredible care wrapping and protecting everything, and after the move was complete, there wasn't a single dent or not even a scratch. That speaks volumes.
