The rating breakdown
3 of the 34 ratings in Google’s published star breakdown for Whitesel Music are one or two star.
Worked out from 34 ratings. That is enough to publish but few enough that one more review moves it noticeably, so read it as a hint rather than a measurement.
Against other listings in Charlottesville
5.4 percentage points higher than the middle of the 18 listings in Charlottesville we can publish a rate for.

In their own words
My review is based on my experience with both the Charlottesville and Harrisonburg locations of Whitesel Music. I dropped off my digital piano keyboard at the Charlottesville location of Whitesel Music. I was asked to wait two weeks before drop-off so the instrument could be evaluated. The repair was to happen in Harrisonburg while the drop off was in Charlottesville.
I called to get my piano tuned. They had no problem giving me the phone number of a local tuner but after 2 calls and 1 text to the tuner in a week and no response I called them back to tell them and basically got an "Oh well" response....THANK YOU FOR NOTHING
We made a referral for a tuner, a local subcontractor, who is at fault for not scheduling with the customer. The full response was "Oh well, I'm sorry he didn't call you back" or words to that effect. We are not responsible for others' lack of professionalism.
They moved the piano well enough. I told the representative how many landings I had and how many steps and he told me how much it would be. Then the movers came and backed the truck up all the way to my door, but the price didn't go …
The customer never called to inform us of any damages, albeit they were small, so that we could effect repairs. We stand by our work and back it up with repairs. If we are not aware of any damages, how are we supposed to repair them, which is part of our guarantee?
What satisfied customers point to
The same method, applied to the four and five star reviews. Most movers are praised for the same handful of things, so what is missing here is often as telling as what is present.

In their own words
I needed to move a piano on a short timeline, and they accommodated my schedule happily. The movers were friendly, careful, and wonderful to work with. And after getting several quotes, they were the best price. Highly, highly recommend.
Had two pianos moved to/from three different states. Everything went smoothly and as planned. The movers were professional and got the pianos in/out quickly and without incident.
had a great time trying out pianos and talking to the very nice person running the place. we worked out a great deal with an upright that i adore, and I'll update this review with my experience and pictures once i get it in my house. but so far, I'm having a lovely time and am very excited about my piano!
A full service piano company. They are extremely friendly and knowledgeable, do beautiful restorations, and have been family owned for I think 3 generations is what I was told.
