1776 Moving and Storage, Inc

I had a horrible experience with 1776 moving. The 3 man crew arrived over 30 minutes late, and the man in charge was nasty from the start. They bumped into many walls, didn't inform me that they broke a glass shelf until I discovered them kicking the glass into a corner. They seemed to work very slowly. All of my boxes were labeled what rooms they were to be placed in including the garage. They were split up working in different rooms so I couldn't manage or fully direct them.

We used this moving company to empty our house after the Hurricane Irma. Friendly and fast. However, when they returned it became apparent how poorly they did in packing up our home. We had furniture damaged and other stuff that would be normal. We were missing stereo equipment and some personal items. When the returned with the boxes that they charged us $2,900.00 for we found that many of the boxes were previoulsy used in a move at Alaqua!!

Update as of October 7 - 2 stars: The claim to get my frame replaced was denied. They said that I never put the bed frame together correctly in the first place, and that was the reason for denying the claim. However this is untrue, we've been using the bed for many months with no issues with the frame. It was put together properly and had no dent or damage to it until the frame was moved.

I don't know where to begin. I could probably write 10 pages on how bad this company is, but i'll get right to it. 3 guys showed up to move us, which is what we hired. This was a two day move. The first day, they were decent. Didn't get everything done they were supposed to, but not bad. Good enough I tipped them $100.00 for the day. Second day is where it went downhill. The same 3 guys showed up. However, 1 of them was hungover from the night before, so he was close to useless.

It has been over two months since I submitted my claim for damage that happened during my move with 1776 Moving and Storage. There has been no response from their claims company, and 1776 Moving and Storage is taking zero responsibility.

So I thought the price was very fair and I appreciated them working to move my moving date several times as my house kept getting delayed. Now I've been through quite a few moves with different moving companies so I am accustomed to accidents like things getting broken or marks being made on the walls. In this case their people were moving large pieces of furniture up a staircase and they dropped one of them which smacked into the wall hard. The movers did apologize to me and showed me the damage.

Do not use this company. Thousands of $'s in damages. Good luck with a claim. We were offered $101.00 in compensation. Brand new Peloton tread taken apart incorrectly. Broken wires and missing parts. Brand new Pottery Barn mirrors. Never hung. Packed facing each other with no protection. Scratched badly. Broken dishes. Boxes packed with kitchen knives poking out the bottom and then dragged over our brand new hardwood floors. Showed up at 9:00 in the morning and finished at around 11:00 at night.

I recently hired 1776 Moving for my moving date of August 10, 2024 and was extremely disappointed with their service and deception. They quoted 5 hours for loading and unloading my 3-bedroom townhome but failed to clarify that 2 ½ hours of that were actually allocated for travel. This left only 3 hours for the actual move, which was completely unrealistic. On the estimate breakdown, it states (on three separate line items) Moving Labor as 5H, Travel Time 2H and 35 minutes, and Fuel Surcharge.
