5-Star Movers

The good: Tyler was very experienced, courteous, and handled our property with respect. We were delayed in our start time because Uhual gave us a faulty truck that we had to replace, and they were very flexible in shifting our start time back 30-45 minutes which I really appreciated. Tyler even helped back up the Uhual into a tight parking lot by the loading doors. Tyler is the main reason I gave this review 2 stars instead of 1.

This was by far, the WORST moving experience ever! 5 Star moved me on 10/29/22 and I don’t recommend them. Initially I asked for the earliest spot. I was fine when I was given the 1-3pm spot. The movers arrived at 3:03pm, and everything seemed okay until Nick (the supervisor I guess) came in to state, “We gotta wrap things up.” This was at appx. 5.30, and the move was about halfway through. I was shocked. The two young men who were doing the work were obviously tired from what I assume was a full day of moving.

All muscle and no brains apparently. The guys were prompt and efficient. They didn’t stand around chatting but were machines!! I would have rated 5 stars for my late October move until I got across the country and unloaded my moving truck (I just booked them to load the truck). They completely disregarded the marker/markings on the boxes.

I reserved their services through a third-party vendor and paid in advance. After I paid, 5-star movers contacted me and demanded additional payment, falsely claiming that the third-party vendor had clearly posted that 5-star does not move pianos. He then said that they never move pianos but that they would do it for a price.

If I could write a review with less than one star, I would do so. My experience with 'Nick' was the worst I have had in quite some time. During the initial phone conversation with him, he told me that there was an $85 fee to drive out to my home in Woodbury from Minneapolis. When I pointed out that it doesn't say that on the website, he said "oh the website is wrong, that's what we charge." It really isn't about the money, it is about customer service.

At first, we had a fantastic experience. We received our belongings and our movers at our destination even took pictures because they were shocked at how items were stacked and strapped in. We have pieces of wood cut out of our table and chairs damaged. They stacked the metal backing of our couch on our leather seats causing dents and rips. Once the strap was removed from the trunk we had boxes that fell over while unloading.

We used a moving company to coordinate our move and they hired Five Star to unload our moving truck in Minneapolis. The two movers arrived on time and were pleasant. They saw the truck and estimated 3 hours to unload it and we agreed and said whatever it takes. After about 2.5 hours they told me that they weren't going to be able to finish unloading the truck because they had to leave for another job. This was the first I heard of this and I was alone in the house without help to finish unloading the truck.

I’ve used them twice now. They are relatively affordable, but lacking in delivery. The first time I used them was to pack an ABF and they did a very sloppy job that resulted in several things getting damaged in transit. No wrap or other supplies provided or even offered. The second time, I used them for an unpacking and two of the four guys were 40 minutes late.
