A Friend With A Truck Movers

So I've waited now 2 months to see if these guys would fix their mistake before writing a negative review anywhere online. Needless to say, here I am writing the review. I hired A Friend With a Truck Movers after a good friend recommended them to me. The guy I spoke to over the phone was very nice and it was very easy to make my reservation. I was very clear over the phone that I lived on the 3rd floor of a very old apartment building and had a lot of furniture.

I booked it, and everything seemed fine until the day of my move. The movers showed up and then informed me if it was not in closed boxes with lids, they could not move it. I was supposed to go to the storage unit and everything. They then said we had to do the storage another day, and they had to leave. So they were the movers, and still, my mom and I had to take at least nine to ten trips back and forth because they could and would not take anything else.

If I could leave zero stars I would have and to make a very, very long horrific, nightmare, story short, I broke my leg and could not walk and counted on these guys who charged me almost $800 to move a half a mile and a couple totes that’s all it was, and they took advantage of my kindness and left behind the most important stuff and I couldn’t get it because I couldn’t walk.

Not a good experience at all. Extremely disappointed in this company since it had a 4.8 rating. Received an estimate but paid way over that. Was charged for three crew but only two showed up. Was given a "discount" but only in words. Was set to move on a Friday but was called and given excuses that the rain was causing delays at other locations. Ours was scheduled for 9am. Who else was moving before us to cause the delay? Lies.

I'm afraid I cannot recommend. The issues: 1) The day after moving I went to place items in our curio cabinet. It had a lock on the side and the key had been broken off inside the lock. The movers had left a moving blanket inside the curio cabinet so I can only assume they were aware the key had broken off and did not alert me to the issue. Found the key remnant had been placed on our mantle at house A. 2) I called them twice to resolve this issue and no response.

Not satisfied. Picked them because they had good reviews but we didn't have a good experience. Very hard to talk to this company because they don't answer the phone or return your calls. I had to call and confirm my own move 48 hours before to make sure they showed up. The moving crew was nice. They did a fairly efficient job moving our stuff. We even bought them bottled water and donuts to be nice and thank them. After they left we started noticing things.

May 2025 - updated review accidentally, no change. Still have never been contacted by company after my incident on Nov 9, 2023. Nov 2023 - I would like to preface this by saying the movers were very polite. However, I am incredibly disappointed with my move for many reasons, and would not recommend this company to anyone who values professionalism, honesty, or attention to detail.

Terrible moving company. They showed up late. They damaged the house we were moving out of. I watched as one of them moved an unloaded mini fridge that weighs maybe 40lbs, by dragging it across hardwood floors, leaving a long ragged gouge. They damaged an old desk that was family heirloom. They damaged our dining room table that is a family heirloom. They damaged a set of plastic drawers by dropping it instead of setting it down. They drug our mattress across the ground and into a bug-covered porch light.
