Sunrise Moving and Packing - Kansas City

I'm reviewing due to service failures, misrepresentation, and lack of follow-up. The salesperson who booked my move stated that movers would transport all plants I could not carry myself (40 lbs and over). On moving day, no plants were moved, contrary to what was represented. I was quoted approximately $2,000 for packing and moving services. The final charge was $4,025, more than double the quoted amount, without a clear or adequate explanation.

To start the movers arrived over 4 hours after the time they stated they would be there, once they finally arrived they were so rushed and not doing anything in an organized safe manner. They refused to take our TV's, which we had 5 of them and 3 being very large, they refused to take anything with glass, one box they wouldn't take cause they said was too heavy and stated they would not take jewelry boxes but yet one of them managed to make it on the truck.

I paid $2000,00 to pack and dissemble some furniture, and that’s how they packed it. A very expensive leather couch got damaged, the motorcycle got scratched, the bed frame broken, the table broken, not even a blanket around nice furniture. I tried to contact them regarding this issue, but I received no answer, and most of my furniture is broken, scratched, or damaged.

AVOID USING THIS MOVING COMPANY! At first I thought everything had gone well. (As you can see in a previous review which I will be deleting) That was until we realized the amount of damage that had been caused. Two large flat screen TVs ruined, one was dropped right in front of us, our king size mattress had a huge permanent lump, and multiple other items broken or scratched, paperwork missing including social security cards, birth certificates and an ID and during the move at the last minute We were informed that…

Movers packed slow, were forgetful of my items being packed and damaged my furniture. I was quoted for a 1 bedroom standard apartment packing originally priced at $1150 for 3 people at 5 hours. I personally packed the bedroom and bathroom, leaving the kitchen and living room (1 large sectional, roughly 15 pictures, and a few items requiring no more than 2-3 large boxes. It took the movers 6 hours roughly to pack and move into my storage (15 steps away from my apartment).

My experience with this company has been nothing short of either a letdown or simply a failure to approach expectations from as high rated as this company is. I will say that almost everyone that I have spoken to about the issue from start to finish but unfortunately kindness doesn't equal competency. I scheduled a move for 9AM approx. 2 weeks before my move on the 27th of July. I was quoted 500-600 max. Come 9 on the moving day I have heard nothing.

We hired this company to help us move to a new apartment and they cancelled our move. We scheduled them to come 3 days before our lease ends, due to our new lease starting 3 days before our old one ended. (leaving almost no wiggle room) We have 4 items. A king bed, entertainment center, Box spring, and a dresser. They told us a client had unlisted items, causing them to cancel the whole entire day. This company doesn’t have more than 2 employees? Like y'all can’t send someone else out? absolutely ridiculous.

Sunrise Moving and Packing was contracted to pack and move my 2 bedroom apartment less than a half mile away. Before packets arrived, my boyfriend and I had packed and moved all items/clothes from the master closet, drawers from 2 dressers were removed and moved, most of the office was packed and moved and about half of the bathroom had been packed and moved! On packing day (11-28-2025), they sent 3 packets instead of the 2 ordered/contracted.
