In their own words
We had a terrible experience with these movers. They quoted us a price of $1700 and charged us $4000! That's a big enough difference to move to Indiana, we moved 5 miles away from where we were. A contract was not provided up front but on the day of the move. There was no inventory list sent to us beforehand although I did talk to them around 5 times to make sure they knew what we had. When the crew showed up they didn't know we had exercise equipment.
This review is totally without merit.
This company is AWFUL. They charged me over $200 MORE than they quoted me because THEY made a mistake and sent 1 extra person. They said they would correct the charge, but then STILL charged me an extra $100 as a "travel fee" NO ONE told me I would be charged this. When I called for my original quote I was told "$92 an hour for EVERYTHING" I even asked "Does that include traveling, equipment, everything?" "Yes ma'am it does." When I called back to complain I was told I was "a piece of work" and then hung up on.

We used this company to help finish packing, and move our things into PODS. We hiried 4 guys at $190hr. We were charged their travel times that was never discussed previously ( we were in Taylorsville so that was over an hour just there). They took many breaks, and hardly did I ever see all 4 men working at the same time. We didn't feel we had a great experience moving out with their help so we used different movers to move in. That's when we really saw how a professional company does it.

We had an unfortunate experience with this company. After the inventory call it was determined that we needed two trucks, yet on move day they showed up with one truck. They filled the truck and drove the1/4 mile to the new house, unloaded it then left at 2:30 pm, leaving furniture, rugs, and ALL boxes for us to move on our own. There were 3 of 4 workers that worked hard; however, this experience was unacceptable and unprofessional and complicated the move exponentially.
I called this company for a free estimate and the person I spoke with was very rude and I was even able to hear them make snide comments under their breath about what I was asking. Very unprofessional! I was able to get a cheaper rate somewhere else, but even if not, I would not have used them because of the person I spoke with. Management should have a discussion with the person that answers the phones.

Our two service men were everything one could hope for. They were on time, clean. Attentive, competent in their work, and responsive to several changes in our mind. I would hope that two such good men could get all day- regular work, as opposed to hourly. We will be back as the need arises.

We used A Local Van for moving from Louisville to New England. From the time that Rick came to do the estimate at my home to the last box that the two movers dropped off on our second floor walk-up (in the rain), it was a great experience. Rick was very patient and took the time to address all my concerns in a timely and polite manner. He also worked with our tight schedule and had his crew come over one day early to pack so we could meet our deadlines. The two crew members that he sent were also excellent.

Picking a mover is the absolute worst part of preparing to move. I've seen it and heard it all in my many moves. However I will say that I have been lucky enough to find 2 moving companies in my lifetime that were honest, professional & stood behind their work. One being in NJ (Pony Express) & one here in Louisville (A Local Van Moving & Storage/Rick). Rick's quote was so close to what he said it cost to move us. His guys were hard working & pleasant.
