All My Sons Moving & Storage

I went back and forth on whether to post this, but after a few weeks my experience with All My Sons is still bothering me. I do not want anyone else to make the same mistake I did. They were not my first choice for movers, but when my move date was pushed up and my original company could not make it, I reached out to All My Sons and they were able to accommodate me. On moving day everything went downhill fast.

We had an extremely frustrating experience with All My Sons Moving and Storage, and would not recommend them. First, they changed our scheduled move time, multiple times, which made it nearly impossible to plan our day. Communication was extremely poor. We were told, multiple times, that the crew would call with an ETA. However, we were left waiting for updates that never came.

The movers were pleasant and prompt on arrival, but the move that was expected to be about three hours max became 6. The broker who arranged my move didn’t tell the movers that they were moving my things to a storage unit- they used the wrong packing materials for the move. The movers also broke a mirror and bent a table, and a shelf is missing. We made it to the storage unit 30 minutes before closing. Despite all the inconvenience, I had to pay the movers before they could unload the truck.

The movers themselves were nice enough, but they were clearly overworked and not properly trained. I watched them drop my dresser multiple times on the stairs in our new place, and they slid multiple pieces of furniture across hardwood in both places, leaving very bad scratches. The damage in the photos is the freshly painted/cleaned apartment we just moved into. The estimate* I was given was $458.

This was the first time I’d ever used a moving company. I have always done this on my own with a couple of friends but I had gotten sick a couple of months ago and I wasn’t sure if I would have the energy to do this on my own. I was quoted a price and told that it would most likely take just a couple of hours with 3 people so it would be something I could afford. They showed up late, which was fine. I understand things happen. However, everything from that point on was fairly unprofessional.

Worst moving experience of my life!!! Giving 5 stars to the moving crew. Fast, professional, and safe. 0 stars for the sales and administrative team. I was contacted 3 separate times to tell me the same issue and they quoted me 3 different prices. 14% fuel charge on the total is crazy. Would not hire them again. This is a scam. Strait up bait and switch. They give you a price with no documentation and then change it while holding your belongings hostage in the truck.

I booked my move on May 8th for a May 29th move date, nearly a month in advance. I needed a storage unit, packing services, and movers for a two-bedroom apartment. During the booking process, I was told a storage unit was available and that packing services could be included. I was quoted approximately $700 based on my inventory and an estimated four-hour move. I agreed and paid the required $100 deposit.

The whole experience was the worst and I have moved 10 times. AMS underestimated my home 4 times and the prize increased every time. I paid for an additional crew and truck for the following day. They still wound up leaving items because the truck was full. I had to move the rest of my items on my own. The movers did not unpack and set up many of my items they packed which I now have to do myself. AMS double charged my credit cards for the move and claimed they did not.
