In their own words
BEWARE. DO NOT - I REPEAT - DO NOT use alliance van lines. the absolute worst service i/we have ever experienced in my entire life and career. i am in the industry and have worked with many logistics companies across the US and i truly do not understand how these guys are in business. they do not care about you. if you left a good review, you got SO LUCKY!!!! congrats!!!! in short. this entire business is a SCAM.
Very disappointed with my experience. My stuff was in Texas and I was already living in New Jersey. Everything was good up until the day they picked my belongings up. They were an hour late and never received a phone call saying they would be late. It made things frustrating because I had someone go during their lunch break to meet the movers and was late getting back to work. That’s not the worst part..
I would not recommend this company to anyone. They will lie to you from the very beginning. You wouldn’t even know they are lying to you because you’ll be moving your stuff for the first time. They claim that there are no hidden costs and later you find various other costs. One of the costs I had to bear which I wasn’t told earlier was the cost of moving the stuff from my door to the truck. They charge $50 for moving your stuff 75 feet out of the door.
This company is very close to being reputable but I have to say they failed and did not make amends. I scheduled a last minute move, this is difficult, but I was very clear of the expectations and they want above and beyond to verbally guarantee they could arrive on time. They did not show, did not call, would not answer my calls, and I couldn't get ahold of them until the next day.
Alliance Van LIne Service-Zero, Honesty less then that! I was not going to post this on Alliance Van Lines web site. My intent was to send a certified letter to the top CEO. I did not know until I attempted to get the CEO information, that they are brokers not movers, I found that out after being burned. Now I understand why not one person that I had any contact with has responded to phone, e-mail or text messages.
Do NOT use Alliance for moving. It takes more time than they estimated and more expensive than they estimate. Initially it was great, I had an accurate count and they adjusted my price based on the count. Verbally, Chris from Alliance said that we have to tell you 1-10 business days, but it usually takes about 3 business days. I was going to share a truck going yo/from the same states as me. I thought great, that’ll work out well with when I start my job.
I called to get a quote for a long distance move from OR to IA. The lady on the phone was very nice but kept bringing up how great of a company alliance was and how they had some many 5 star reviews and how you should hire the best company not the one with the lowest price. I thought that was strange but kept going with the phone call. I gave her a detailed list of my furniture and again she stated how great a company alliance was.
This was my first time reaching out to a moving company to handle the pick-up and delivery of my items, due to the fact I was moving a considerable distance. I was moving from NYC to Miami, FL. The agents assisting me with the initial moving process were nice enough. However, I would like to state, either through my own naiveté or perhaps not fully understanding the process, I was never fully understanding the full scope of the logistics of how this process all works.
What satisfied customers point to
The same method, applied to the four and five star reviews. Most movers are praised for the same handful of things, so what is missing here is often as telling as what is present.

In their own words
I was very skeptical of moving companies because of the mass amount of calls I received from various different companies offering to “help with my move”. I spoke with Sean at alliance and he was extremely thorough and knowledgeable when getting my inventory. He did not pressure me like other companies did. The bid seemed fair so we proceeded with booking the move. I put down a deposit with Sean at alliance.
I have to share my experience with Alliance Van Lines.. I was very hesitant to use a moving company again. After talking to several companies and gathering several quotes I decided on going with Alliance.. I spoke with a gentleman by the name Larry who was very kind and informative.. Although it wasn’t the cheapest of my quotes nor the highest, I now see it was done accurately. In past moving experience I was up charged at the time of the move, and had a horrible experience with the past movers customer service.
Prior to moving I doom-scrolled past all the negative and bot-esque reviews for Alliance Van Lines, so this review will be pretty explicit and detailed. I hope it helps, but TL;DR - I was satisfied, but ended up spending 10-15% more than was quoted because they're a broker, not an actual moving company. My studio move was quoted at $1949.76 for 286 cubic feet, but I ended up paying $2551.44 for 450 cubic feet, largely due to the sales agent putting me as moving with small boxes.
What a roller coaster! From the reviews I’ve seen I was skeptical about using this service however I needed to move on a short notice so in a Hail Mary I opted to use the service and I couldn’t have been more surprised. I was given thorough information about the process by calling before scheduled my move out of my friends house. They continued contact with me for directions, before and after packing my things.
