Armstrong Moving

Fraudsters! AVOID AVOID AVOID!! This is one of those companies that will quote you a price and then once they’ve loaded up your stuff they will hold you to random and charge you a random amount substantially more than quoted. I got a final invoice for 75% more than what was quoted WITHOUT any reference to the terms of the quote that was signed before they loaded up. Without reference to the weight or volume.

READ BEFORE YOU DECIDE TO SHIP WITH THEM. They invoiced me $450 for a parking permit. They claimed that the city of Montreal charged them for obtaining a permit to park the truck in front my building. I called the city of Montreal and they confirmed that parking a moving truck is free of charge and requires no permit. When I called them out on their lie, they said it was a mistake.

We used Armstrong to move us from the GTA to Michigan. What an absolutely horrible experience. First of all their “packers” were not professional packers, and left a mess. Packing paper all over the place. Re packed things that I had already packed. Threw stuff in boxes. But that’s not the worst of it. The day Armstrong was contracted to move us out, they came with too small of a truck and only ended up taking 1/4 of our stuff . It took them a week and 4 extra trips to come and get the rest of our items.

What a nightmare. I do not know where to start to describe the move from hell I was subjected to. The Armstrong team came to my house and packaged everything that needed to be packaged. But from the get-go the team declined to disassemble a buffet under the pretext that it is not part of their job and needed a different team or company to do it in order for them to package it. I went ahead a d disassembled it myself. They finally took the packaged items to their warehouse.

To put this move in context: we have moved internationally three times (Netherlands to Australia, Australia to Toronto, and then Toronto to Portugal). This last time, moving from Toronto to Portugal, was the worst because of the service provided by Armstrong. First, the move manager made errors (e.g., our names, logistical arrangements) which we found unprofessional. We had to manage the move manager. Then our goods took 1.5 months longer than expected.

On May 11, 2026, I contacted Armstrong Moving to arrange the transportation of my personal effects, with a scheduled pickup date of July 27, 2026. After discussing the details, we entered into an agreement and confirmed the pickup date for my shipment. Unfortunately, about one week before the agreed pickup date, I was informed by Armstrong Moving that they would be unable to provide the service due to the unavailability of drivers or agents to collect my household goods.

I had an unfortunate experience with Armstrong moving. After delivering our belongings, while at our home, their driver acted in an unacceptable and unsafe way (moving aggressively in space, raising his voice, opening our personal belongings without permission, grabbing pages from our hands and writing in them, etc.). In the last three years we used the services of six moving companies, and this behavior wasn't even in the ballpark of anything we've experienced before.

Do not trust their quotes. I hired Armstrong to move my household goods from Canada to India, and it was a terrible experience. At every stage, they attempted to overcharge me. They kept changing the pricing despite our initial agreement. I recommend avoiding them, as there are many other professional companies available in both India and Canada. Don’t trust their quotes and steer clear of their services. I exchanged at least 200 Email with them, despite paying a hefty amount for the move.
