Bellhop Moving - Washington DC

Do not hire these movers. It’s a nice concept, Uber for movers, but the quality control is lacking. If you don’t get a good team your move will be needlessly stressful, your things destroyed, and the teams will be unprofessional (including some members not showing up at all). You’ll also spend hours on the phone with their main office trying to straighten things out, and they’ll try to charge you hundreds of dollars more than you were quoted.

I've had an overall extremely negative experience with Bellhops. Booking the service was fine, but I received no confirmation other than an initial generic email and a text message at 10:30 PM the night before the move was to take place at 9 AM on May 3rd. The truck on this job ended up being two hours late. At 9:15, I was informed by my lead mover that the truck driver on this call had "an issue" and would not be coming, but they were working on it.

For my move yesterday, their truck broke down en route to me and after wasting a lot of my time they effectively canceled. They put me in a real bind--the kind of thing that's your worst nightmare on moving day. Bellhops staff were apologetic, but apologetic doesn't change anything for what the rest of my day was like. They should have done something to make it right. The team captain texted me morning of and cited the wrong move-in time, said he would be late. Another guy was here an hour early.

We could not have had a more terrible experience with bellhop. We used the company to move a single item, the base of a treadmill between two houses. They sent 3 movers and a truck, however the movers were not strong enough to lift it, dropping it multiple times. Once they made it to their truck, the lift gate was broken in the down position leaving the truck stranded on the street. So they decided to walk it the few blocks on a dolly, dropping it a few more times along the way, bumping it down the street.

Pretty much impossible to contact support because I get stuck talking to an AI that creates tickets that don't get addressed.

Bottom line: my furniture was moved on short notice, but unprofessionalism was abound. Pros: 1) The movers came to my house on short notice and completed the move quickly. Cons: 1) The "lead" mover repeatedly tried to get a cash tip from my elderly mother in law. Mom even called me during the move (I was out of town) to tell me, and i said to her "do not tip them, i can provide a tip through the online dashboard after they leave." The mover continued to ask for a tip, saying he needed to "pay the other worker,"…

Hire Bellhops and your PAYING people to destroy your belongings. The movers failed to wrap a glass dining table, and a tall wood cabinet. They dropped and shattered the dining table, scraped the entire face of the cabinet and, literally, lost a full-size vacuum cleaner and ironing board. How does a moving company even lose a customers belongings??? Where does it go? I won’t even get into the damage to the newly painted interior condo walls. It was painful to watch this disaster unfold.

I hired Bellhop for a recent move in DC. The movers arrived almost two hours after the expected arrival window, which caused me to incur additional elevator reservation fees at both properties. The two movers contacted their supervisor during the move, and I was told nothing could be done to assist with those fees. After the move was completed, I tipped $40 and later reviewed my final invoice.
