Ben Hur Moving & Storage

Awful, terrible company. They misrepresented their price repeatedly and charged much more than I was quoted. On top of that they were very inexperienced at what they were doing--moving furniture..., they didn't work hard and they were rude. I requested two guys to load furniture and boxes from my apartment into a rented truck starting at 8am. I was quoted a price of $79 per hour. At 8:20am when they hadn't shown up and hadn't called, I called and they claimed to be 'minutes away'.

STAY AWAY FROM BEN HUR: They managed to loose two big pieces of furniture and refused to be accountable for them. One of them was an antique chair, irreplaceable, part of a group of eight! And a large Table lamp, one of a pair. Paid tons of money to Ben Hur to pack all my belongings, store them while work was done in my apartment and return them a month later. Well, should be a basic task for a moving company, no?

So I called Ben Hur back in April I was looking for movers to move my items to storage unit I have already secured; they offered my another storage that they are associated with for cheaper cost( 1st red flag); the movers come but their only job is to drive your truck; you move all your things yourself. There is no option to have he movers move your stuff to storage option according to the rep. I got lucky the guy they sent actually helped me..

Very Careless with my items. Delivery guys like to lie regarding "Tolls they had to cover on the way to your house" in order for the customer to reimburse them, although it's not in the contract. When I told them I was going to call the office to see why it was not brought up to my attention before or written in the contract, they ask me to forget about it, "they'll just take the loss". A while back my items were shipped to TX and we're 2 weeks late.

Ben Hur packed us and moved us from out apartment to a new house. At first they only sent three guys but then a fourth thankfully showed up. The foreman was great but the other guys were so SLOW. One guy kept taking breaks, just sitting in the moving truck. It was going so slowly that even though we were paying them to pack us, we started packing ourselves to speed up the process. One of the movers who was packing our kitchen kept eating our food as we were packing- totally unprofessional.

To start, I actually used Ben Hur 2 years ago and had a great experience. When I called them to move out of the same apartment they moved me into, I expected them to look up the details of my last move, give me a quick price with maybe a marginal increase for changing COB, and I would've committed on the spot. Instead, they wouldn't even start a quote for me unless I agreed to a minimum of nearly double what they charged me last time. Repeat customer discount? Not a chance.

They finally paid only after they were sued in court. They backed into our fire escape and did considerable damage and did not pay for the repairs until they were sued.
