Big Apple Moving

The only redeeming thing about my move with Big Apple Moving is that they did succeed in actually moving our stuff from one place to another. I don't want to relive this experience so I'm only going to use bullet points: - The person on the phone told me 8am sharp. 8am rolls around, we hear nothing. We ask, they respond saying 9-10am. They arrive at 10:30am. Don't actually start moving until 11am (3 hours after intended start time) - 4:30pm, still moving.

"I had a terrible experience with Big Apple Moving. They delayed my move and charged me extra fees that were never disclosed. I feel completely scammed and would not recommend them.

Probably the worst experience ever. They lost one room of furniture, which has never been found. Everything poorly and improperly packed. NOTHING wrapped or padded. Rude and extremely unprofessional. The “Foreman” gave me a price to have another company TRAILER my mothers car across the county. Instead the car was driven half way and the abandoned. Car was found almost 2 months later in Texas and had been in a crash.

I essentially never leave reviews, but these movers were an absolute joke. I would give negative stars if it was possible. They packaged my glasses with no care nor bubble wrap. They only used wax paper and barely wrapped the glasses with minimum effort. They also bunched the glasses together without signaling whether a box was fragile for the subsequent movers.

Won’t hire these guys again. Completely unorganized They lost the screws for the bed frame, didn’t come with a mattress cover and I had to call the moving company within the first hour of the move. One of them complained several times about not eating breakfast in addition to getting annoyed with me for asking if they could try another way to get my sofa in the door- which they damaged. None of my furniture was wrapped in blankets, just Saran wrap.

We used Big Apple Moving and unfortunately the experience was very disappointing. During the move, two TVs and an expensive lamp were damaged. Since then, it has been almost three weeks of trying to file and resolve the claim. On three separate occasions, technicians came to the property to “inspect the issue,” but we have not received any follow-up or clear response after those visits, and we are still waiting on that.

By far the worst moving experience I’ve had in over 12 years of living in NYC. Do yourself a favor, spend a little extra money and hire literally any other moving company. Whatever you save upfront will quickly be outweighed by the stress, frustration, and headaches they create on moving day. I had to leave a third of my items behind and move them myself due to their incompetency, and working at a snails pace, solely so we could finish within my new buildings allotted time.

I really try to be gracious when leaving reviews due to the economy and struggling businesses but you only get one chance to make a first impression. I called to get a quote (after reading the amazing reviews) and was disappointed by the individual who answered the phone about my move-in date. FYI, the housing market in NYC is insane and finding an apartment can take weeks, especially if you work full-time.
