Roadway Moving - NYC

We chose Roadway Moving based on its reputation, but our experience was extremely disappointing. We were given a price range that depended on how much we packed ourselves. We packed virtually everything ourselves before pickup and did not have any furniture to move. We also paid 50% of the high-end estimate before the move. Then, on the evening before pickup, we were presented with a substantially higher price than we had been expecting.

Update: March 23. Another move: the sales representatives are unprofessional unfortunately although the moving team seems nice as I hired once 7 years ago. Ruslan completely ignored me while I did left afew voice mail. my move is just a week away and then when I talked to management he suddenly showed up but this time harassing me with calling 8 times in a row out of panic. I told them I want another person to work with. Nobody ever reached out. Don't recommend this company.

Would not use this company again in future. Shipped a bedroom set from Las Vegas to Virginia. Paid $2380. The communication from my sales rep was satisfactory. I requested a quote and was able to schedule the move within a week. I received constant updates and inquiries for the pickup to ensure everything was smooth the day of. However once everything was packed up and picked up, I had no response from my move coordinator, Claudio.

I'm embarrassed on this company's behalf for the prices they are charging. I was quoted $2,005 for a one bedroom move from UWS to LIC. Other well-reviewed companies have only quoted me $600-800. To give context, I only have 14 large items (couch, desk, mattress, etc.), 12 medium sized items (chair, bedside table, air purifier), and 25 boxes (mostly medium sized) that I will be packing myself. This means that they will be charging me $40 PER ITEM.

On 11/18/2025 Roadway moving was moving a new tenant into my apartment building in NC. I had parked in a handicap parking space in the parking lot in front of the apartment building as usual the day before. The movers backed up to my vehicle and were so close they caused scratches and scuff marks on my vehicle when unloading furniture and boxes.

Horrible experience. Expect all your careful packing to be casually tossed around. - I had carefully packed and marked storage bins as extremely fragile, mentioned it to them as soon as they entered, they decide it was a good idea to stack them up and drag them down the stairs... Literally slid nearly $10,000 of equipment down 2 flights of stairs and I heard the loud slamming at each step and came around and watched in horror.

This business is the worst. I chose it because it had great reviews. The only part that went well was the initial sales call when they sold me a bunch of lies. I overpaid for an experienced NY team to get out to Portland, OR to move my high end furnishings back to NY. I requested full coverage insurance prior to their arrival because I was worried about my items being damaged - in particular one expensive chandelier.

I hired Roadway for my cross-country move. The rep came to do the estimate and said it would be a one day packing and loading job. That sounded kind of hard to believe given it was a full 4br house, but that was his assessment. Given I was starting a new job I needed to know when they would be arriving at the destination so that my wife and kids would not be stranded in an empty house while I was at a new job all day. The estimate rep told me they would assuredly be there at a certain date.
