Big John Movers

I am a survivor of domestic violence abuse along with my 2 children. CPS back in September of 2019 had moved our belongs for us due to domestic issues at our previous address. After I was vocal and questioned the price and quality of service I was screamed at by the secretary. Telling me that they did me a favor. I called hired this company one Sunday afternoon ridden by anxiety, overwhelmed. I was reassured that this company would take care of me and quoted me at $250 dollars and $85 each additional hour.

Scheduled a Sunday afternoon move earlier in the previous week. Called about 1:30 to see when they may be arriving. Secretary told me they were on a big job that it would be awhile. No problem. Called back again at 7pm and was told they still on the job but would still come to move me. 7pm on a Sunday night is NOT Sunday afternoon. When i questioned delay secretary was VERY rude and told me she was clear when i scheduled. No she was NOT. And no need to be rude.

Not a good experience, The guys themselves were nice and polite. However our estimate for a 3 bedroom home was 4-5 hours, it took 9 hours (4 guys on the job). Next they lost the support bars for my bedroom dresser/mirror. ($12) Also lost part of my Bissel Carpet Cleaner ($45). Another smaller table had deep scratches. When I called they just claimed truck was empty! No effort made to talk with guys, no call back for follow up. I cannot recommend this company despite the guys who did the job.

The worst experience we ever had with a mover and we have been in business for 28 years. One story after another and the item was never delivered or returned. Eventually we were forced to report the item stolen just to get them to respond to texts or calls. Add to this that they were nasty on the phone when they were totally at fault. The poor customer never received his item.

The movers were good, but overall my experience was unpleasant. “Afternoon” is very loosely used by this company. The movers didn’t arrive until 530 pm and didn’t finish until 830 pm or so. I called multiple times to get an estimated time they’d arrive and was given varying times and uncertain answers. Afternoon to me (and probably to most people) is around 1-2 pm, not 530.

I will start by saying Big John Movers did address my concerns by discounting my bill significantly, but I still would not hire them again. The movers they sent were inefficient and unmotivated, turning what should have been a 6 hour project (they initially estimated 5-8 hours after reviewing my apartment and saying "you don't have much stuff") into almost 10 hours, even after sending another mover out to help the process.

After having a positive experience with Big John Movers 4.5 years ago, we decided to use them again for another local move. Unfortunately we did not have as good of an experience and it's left us frustrated. We moved from a 1,600 sqft home and the move took 14 hours. I shared this feedback with the company after our move and did not receive a reply. It is clear they do not care about their customer's satisfaction as they did not offer to "make it right" or even simply offer an apology.

I had a really negative experience with this company. I had three movers to go from a studio apartment to a two-bedroom house. They took 5.5 hours at the studio apartment, and the move in total was 8 hours. The locations are 8 minutes apart. It should have been closer to half that time. My mother and I watched a worker take one couch cushion at a time. They are paid by the hour, so it was really frustrating to feel like they were running up the clock.
