The rating breakdown
5 of the 24 ratings in Google’s published star breakdown for Big Oxen Cleaners & Movers are one or two star.
Worked out from 24 ratings. That is enough to publish but few enough that one more review moves it noticeably, so read it as a hint rather than a measurement.

They were scheduled to load my disabled father's U-Haul this morning and just never showed up. He is moving into assisted living and now we are scrambling to get someone to help because this company is unprofessional and unreliable. They didn't even communicate, they just didn't show up. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
I really wanted to support this local business, but our service was awful. Communication leading up to the move was questionable and I never got firm answers on dates and arrival time. They were supposed to clean before we moved in, the day …
We apologize for our performance on this day and thank you for your patience as we try accommodate more jobs. The local 16 foot truck is inclusive with all moving options and can hold a standard 2 bedroom home. Most likely would have been two loads. We were short staffed trying to accommodate.
I hate to post a bad review of a local company and really wanted to support a small business, but my experience with Big Oxen was incredibly disappointing. I’m sharing this in the hope that no one else ends up in the same situation. Despite confirming my move with them multiple times the week before, they canceled less than an hour before the scheduled time with only a short email—no call, no real explanation beyond “my helpers canceled,” and no offer to reschedule or suggest alternatives.
What satisfied customers point to
The same method, applied to the four and five star reviews. Most movers are praised for the same handful of things, so what is missing here is often as telling as what is present.

In their own words
This was the 4th time my daughter has used Big Oxen Movers. Their crew is prompt, courteous, and hard working, and the price is very reasonable. We highly recommend this company.
My wife and I had a great experience with these guys. They were super fast (got our three-floor townhome loaded on the truck and unloaded into the house in 2 hours), careful (nothing was damaged), and affordable (our prior move 2 years ago cost almost 3x as much). We were very happy to support a local business as well!
Owner Nick was very responsive to my call. I had to move in an emergency situation twice and both times he was great! The team arrived right on time and did a great job! Thank you guys for making the stress a little bit easier on me. Absolutely recommend 10/10.
Called Big Oxen with a pretty last second move. Needed to move a welding and metal crafts shop with thousands of pounds of tools in short order from Southern Indiana to another state. Nick responded within an hour of my email, and put a quote together with an hour of that. It was a complicated move because a truck could not cross the bridge at the location of the shop, so they used one truck to move the tools toward the bridge, carried them over and then loaded the larger truck.
