Capital City Movers & Storage

I guess I didn't have the same experience everyone else did with Capital City Movers. I hired them at the minimum of three hours for labor only, even though I knew my move wouldn't take that long as I was just going to the building next door. Originally I scheduled them for one day, then called and pushed it back to the next day without issue.

I’m only giving this company one star because it won’t let me give 0. This company has been the most unprofessional company we have ever dealt with. They are so so unprofessional and arrogant. Howard had my husband and I on the phone for almost 2 hours. He kept pushing and wouldn’t let us, or listen to us, when we told him we would like to talk about our options before we made a decision. He put the manager, Jared, on the phone who started laughed at us when we told him we got a quote for a pod.

I paid the deposit for a move and was given a 2 date window. I came out for the days of the move from storage unit to go cross country. the day before found out they were not movers but a broker and had never disclosed that. was told a time the movers are coming. the day of somoene called and stated they are running late and will call later then later that day was told someone has to call to rescedule or they will come the next morning. No one called and next day was ghosted.

The good: ____ The bad: 1) the movers delivered two truck loads of other people’s stuff across three states with no knowledge it wasn’t ours. It took 1.5 days to locate and deliver our stuff; 2) the movers mid packaged all of our audio equipment, causing more than $1000 in damages to which they issued a $500 refund; 3) the movers broke three mid century modern lamps, took them for “repair” and have since ghosted us; 4) the movers lost all Peloton cords and have no responded to repeated requests to replace;

They moved me Oct 1. The movers were great. The problem is their rates were EXTREMELY HIGH AND THEY CHARGED ME $50 after the fact. When I called them about the additional charge they apologized and said they would refund it...THEY LIED. DONT USE THESE PEOPLE. USE A LAWYER TO NEGOTIATE WITH THEM. THEY ARE GREEDY PEOPLE WHO STEAL.

Used this company twice. First time was great however, the second time was horrible. Never again! After incurring lots of damages and missing (stolen)items, I was told the items could not be located. On 3/28 I was told a refund would be issued and have yet to receive it or a response to a follow up email.

***DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IF YOU VALUE YOUR BELONGINGS. THEY WILL DESTROY IT AND WILL NOT REIMBURSE YOU FOR THE DAMAGE.*** “Keep calm and move” is this company’s motto which is pathetic as our valuables were grossly mishandled and destroyed. I’m a month behind in posting this review as it’s been an ongoing mission to sort through the sorry excuse of labeling and packing executed by the Capital City movers team in Northern NJ.

ugh... annoyed. I thought my move back on May 18th would be easy since there are such high reviews. but they were really late, at least two hours, getting to my apartment. Instead of calling me to let me know why they are late, I had to call and find out. Fortunately, they gave me a $50 reimbursement for being so late. However, the moving crew broke my full length mirror. At least they gave me some money to compensate for that. In addition, my toaster oven, which I packed myself in a box, got dented.
