In their own words
If zero stars was an option I would use it, but don't want people to think I forgot to make a selection. I have moved more than a dozen times across the country and this local move was in the top two worst experiences. I was promised and made a down payment for two trucks and two crews, one showed up. I was promised professional packers for the kitchen and artwork, the crew didn't speak English and had no clue how to build glass packs or prepare furniture to be loaded and stored.
James and Julian did an amazing job moving my father-in-laws furniture home, but we were overcharged greatly on both moves. The first move they packed for us for our home was the most terrible experience I’ve ever had. A good portion of the boxes were only half full with fragile things being thrown into boxes with everything piled on top. Needless to say, half of my things are broken, most of which are sentimental and irreplaceable.
I hired Christian Brothers to move my belongings and store them while our new home was being built. They were expensive but had a good google rating. They moved us out of the house and everything went well until they delivered our stuff to the new house several months later. The move in went fine but when I turned on my TV (that was less than 8 months when they picked it up) there were considerable issues with the display. I contacted them as soon as I found the issue and was directed to their insurance provider.
We are very sorry for any damage that occurred to this customer's television. When you book your move with us you are given multiple insurance options and everything is blatantly stated in our contract. We are not trying to hide a thing from any customer.
We had our stuff packed into Upack trailers in Colorado Springs back in June. I asked if they had packed those before as the driver gave me specific instructions. They said they have. Prior to arrival they asked if we needed pads. We let them know we had them. Well, they used shrink wrap that they could charge me for and very few of the pads I bought. We unloaded the truck, and we had damage because of how they didn't strap things down and didn't pad them.
We never heard from this customer after the move. We are surprised to see this review. We did not receive a letter or email from her. We definitely would have been happy to address her issues.
The first crew that came to collect our furniture and dissemble everything to store on their property were great! These boys were very polite and I was comfortable with the experience. After our furniture remained in storage on their property for a month, it was time to move into our home. The second crew that came out were very obnoxious, didn’t know how to put our furniture back together and I was running around explaining where things went multiple times.
We don't come across angry customers too often. Unfortunately there was damage on her move but it was very minor. The items that were damaged were particle board. Particle board furniture doesn't travel too well and its not made to be disassembled and reassembled many times.
It is astonishing that this company has so many positive reviews. Unfortunately, it is my belief that their name "Christian Brothers" gives consumers a false sense of trust, because we all want to believe this company is "christian-like" However my experience was anything but that. The office staff quoted me for a local move (copy of quote below) and at the end of it charged me over $500 more than the quote indicated.
We are sorry to hear that this customer was so dissatisfied. It is very frustrating though to hear the dissatisfaction stems from our movers properly doing their job. Yes, we absolutely wrap all of your items as well as disassemble them.
this company moved us out of state months ago and we are still finding issues. never use this company and good luck trying to file a claim. we have had damage on a lot of our furniture. then when they are done they all sit around waiting for a tip. use a better reputable company. This company misjudged the move saying it was one truck but then I had a rent a U-Haul to drive 1800 miles.
We moved this customer 8 months ago so to get a bad review now comes as a shock. They did have some minor damage and we let them file a claim. If they were having trouble filing a claim we could have helped them through the process. We take care of our customers and go above and beyond.
Awful Experience, Awful Communication, and Fraudulent Billing... Spoiler Alert - We were charged more than double our original quote, and after a couple phone calls, they promised they would refund all of the excess charges (they admitted to billing us for hours when the crew wasn't there, and the time they left for dinner). Unfortunately, they never actually did this, and I had to call and email another 8 times before finally giving up and going to our credit card company to attempt resolution.

The same method, applied to the four and five star reviews. Most movers are praised for the same handful of things, so what is missing here is often as telling as what is present.

In their own words
After over a decade in our beautiful Colorado mountain home, we moved out of state. Based on the recommendation of two friends who had used Christian Brothers for their in-state moves, we contacted them. The communication back and forth was superb. They answered our questions promptly and efficiently. They sent an estimator out to our house to assess the move and recommended a solution that would best fit our needs at a fair price.
Thank you for your review and for choosing Christian Brothers Moving!
I had to move from Arvada to Grand Lake and needed to find a mover. Mary from Christian Brothers Moving and Storage reached out to me to see if I wanted a quote for the move. She was excellent to work with, was fair with the cost and also let me know they could help disassemble and reassemble some of my office furniture and other items. That took a lot of stress off of me to try to do this myself and saved me a great deal of time.
My parents recently moved from their 4-bedroom suburban home to a smaller house and contracted with Christian Brothers to make the move. The team of five (Oscar, Jose, Daniel, Jorge, and JP) showed up promptly at 9 am and got to work. And they worked HARD. My parents had a lot of fragile antique furniture that needed special handling. Not one thing (that we can tell so far) was damaged in the move.
AJ and Richard were awesome, on the “pack” side today, and I anticipate them to do an equally commendable job on my move tomorrow. I am a senior, legally blind and a spinal injury patient. AJ and Richard were considerate to this aspect, and very much accommodating, while performing the task at hand with proficiency, and professionalism. At 66, this is not my first move, nor my first since my injuries changed my life six years ago.
