College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving Boston South

I did a rotational programming moving 3 times in 2 years I worked with the NJ branch to Boston and it was the best experience ever. As a result, I decided to use College hunks for my move from Boston. It was the worst experience of all my moves!!! They were unprofessional, charged us $1,500 more than we were quoted, broke my items, and never called me back after headquarters informed me multiple times I should hear from the branch. I am not typically one to post negative reviews, but I ultimately feel my experience was problematic enough that sharing it would hopefully steer someone else in a different direction. My appointment for junk hauling was scheduled for 8am. I was then told it would be an hour delay. They did not arrive until 2pm. In addition, I was asked if pricing had been reviewed on the phone and I was told that filling up 1/8 of the truck would cost 150 (the employee said this was correct).

I wish I could say my experience improved after filing a damage claim, but it hasn’t. It has now been nearly two weeks since I submitted my claim, and I have yet to receive any meaningful communication or resolution from the company. I called today for an update and spoke with a very courteous representative who genuinely tried to help. Unfortunately, even he was unable to get in touch with the department responsible for handling my claim, leaving me with no answers and no timeline.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was so disappointing that I feel others should know what to expect. This was, without question, the most unprofessional, unresponsive, and careless moving company I’ve ever dealt with—at least based on my experience with the Foxborough, MA team. To start, the crew arrived over four hours late with virtually no meaningful communication. When they finally arrived, they drove their truck into tree branches at my apartment complex, breaking limbs in the process.

I absolutely do NOT RECOMMEND. Our experience with College Hunks has been a complete scam. We were quoted a price of 780 for dollars and ended up being charged nearly 2000. We have done the same move with the same amount of stuff on three other occasions and it has taken either ourselves or other movers at MAXIMUM 4 hours. The initial quote was 3.5 hours. It took their team almost 8 hours as they moved their supplies in an exceptional inefficient manner. (For the record, they are paid hourly).

I appreciate that this is not easy work and accidents happen, but I would never trust this company again. They not only broke the night stand made by my late father (after I pointed out that specific piece to handle with care) they also shattered the wood floor board in my condo, didn’t say anything, and left us to find it later that night. Would not recommend if you value your furniture or home. Edit - we have tried calling to report the damage and have been getting the run around from this company.

I had a terrible experience with the Foxboro team. They were over 3 hours late with no calls to update on timing. I asked them multiple times to start with large furniture and they ignored it and took twice as long as I had budgeted for. They had told me they would give me a discount for being late, then when it came time to pay didn’t and said they’d have to have the manager call me. We are almost 2 months out now and the manager has not called me, despite me leaving multiple voicemails. Would not recommend.

I would leave a 0 if I could. Made my peloton tread inoperable, when it was clearly discussed this was the most important piece in the move. Still waiting for a call from management after I submitted a claim, an email and contacted customer service.
