College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving Cleveland

Editing to add that I have called and texted repeatedly over the last few weeks. Every time, "Dan is on the truck today" and there's no knowing when he'll be done. Call his direct extension? No answer and the mailbox is full. Impossible to communicate with. My in-person experience was relatively good - good enough that I was posting about it to family and friends with high recommendation.

I had a scheduled appointment from 3:30-5:00. They called me and told me they were running late, but they were supposed to let me know and I never got a call. So, I called the company around 8 and after the movers called that they would be there around 8:45 but it was too late. Therefore, I rescheduled for the next day and I inquired about compensation due to my inconvenience. I was told a manager would call me.

Overall we had a negative experience with our move earlier this week. 2 out of the 3 movers did most of the work which resulted in the move taking longer than it should have. The mover that didn’t do much work was MIA a lot of the time and barely helped with the heavy lifting. He mainly unloaded odds and ends and did tear down/set up, leaving everything else for the other two movers.

Incredibly disappointed. I was quoted two hunks for truck unloading labor, 3 people showed up instead and charged me $165/hr instead of $110/hr as quoted. They finished another job before coming to my location, and they were very late - an hour after their scheduled window. The hunks were visibly tired and understandably so! They shouldn’t have sent the same crew to two back to back jobs. Since they all were tired, they were awfully slow with the job.

We were originally quoted $550 for 2 hours with 3 movers. The day of the move, they showed up at the wrong house. They were supposed to show up between 8am and 9am but didn't get there until 9:20am. When they finally arrived, they said it would take 5.5 hours with 2 people and quoted $1200! The movers were an older man and a young kid. The older man, Dave, (which we come to learn is some sort of manager) kept stopping to take phone calls. The poor kid did 80% of the work.

**DO NOT BOOK WITH THIS COMPANY**...I initially booked with College Hunks to do a move in July, 2026. The process looked good, I found a better price and cancelled my service on July 29th. I was told 7-10 days and a I would receive a full refund. No refund was ever received and I have tried to contact the manager of the Cleveland Office thru their call center and after numerous calls to them they finally gave me the managers name and phone number.

The one star is because the two young men who came out to remove miscellaneous junk/garbage from our home were polite. The positive experience with College Hunks ends here. While they were polite, they were ill prepared....my husband had to lend them work gloves for the heavy lifting, and the one young man's pants sagged so much that his underwear was hanging out most of the time.

Customer service is pretty bad for the Cleveland location. Had an appointment scheduled from 9am - 11am. Got a call at about 1pm same day saying they were going to be late. To which I asked why didn’t you tell me this during my appointment window and was told things just took longer than expected. Asked to reschedule and was never called back. Called the corporate number and asked for a reschedule, was told that the Cleveland office had to schedule that. Still no call from anyone in the Cleveland office.
