DO NOT book with this company. We had the worst experience ever - not only dealing with customer service but also the move. We called and got a quote and confirmed for packing and moving with 3 guys and were scheduled for 2pm. At 2:30pm the team called us saying they will be two hours late which was already difficult for us as we had rented our apartment loading dock. At 4:30pm, 2 movers arrived with no packing materials and stated on their invoice they were not given any packing stuff for our pack and move.

Update review: College hunks overcharged me by $175.00 I was promised this would be reimbursed. I have called their headquarters multiple times with the same response"We will follow up about this." I have not since received the credit. if I could give zero stars I would. Do yourself a favor and avoid these thieves. My review is for the management and not for the individuals that moved our furniture.
Any licensed and insured moving company should present what liability they will and won't cover - this is for your protection and the moving company's. The College Hunks page you recorded your review on was not the location that moved you (we only serve NoVa customers) but we do have the same…
Contrary to their tag line, College Hunks made my move immensely more stressful. They showed up an hour late due to overbooking, they damaged several pieces of my furniture, my walls are scratched, a box is missing, and they didn’t put everything in the proper locations. They were very disorganized and they acted like they had never moved anyone previously. They’ve been incredibly unresponsive. A friend had recommended them, but I will certainly not recommend them to my friends in the future.

Where to begin? 1) The job was scheduled for 11/13 but didn’t happen until 11/14. On 11/13 there was a marathon and some streets were shut down and instead of changing the timing of the pick up or finding another route, they just didn’t come and told me to reschedule. 2) When I spoke with Patrick on 11/13 to reschedule he said it would be $195 to remove my single couch. That is the only time anyone mentioned a price to me.

I would give zero stars if I could. Absolutely terrible experience. We booked this company for a move and were quoted $1,400 for 4 hours of moving, only for them to completely fail to deliver on move day. Our movers were scheduled to arrive between 8–9 AM. At 8:45 AM, when I called asking where they were, the representative suddenly claimed the arrival window was actually 8–10 AM, despite both our confirmation text and email clearly stating a one hour arrival window. Fine. Frustrating, but we accepted it.
The two "hunks" who did the work were fantastic. Punctual, polite, thorough, very careful with the items and the house, all around a great experience. My issues are with the office. I spoke to no less than 3 people in the office/scheduling team, and explained that I had a full truck's worth of items. They assured me that was no problem, and gave me a quoted range for a full truck.
We just wanted to take this opportunity to apologize for your experience and we’re so sorry it could’ve been better. We hope you’ll give us another chance to provide you with the excellent service we’re known for should you need our services in the future.
They have amazing reviews and so I was surprised that I had a bad experience! I am moving on October 28th. In preparation for my move, I called 3 different moving companies for quotes, College Hunks was one of them and they had the best reviews out of all the companies. The rep said that they had availability for Oct 28th at noon but they needed to come out to do an appraisal on Oct 21st. I was hesitant because I wanted to secure someone sooner than a week before my move.

Unfortunately, I can not give the same review of the service received today. This company was hired, considering the service received before, to move my belongings from one apartment to another (break down, load up, unload, and put furniture back together). To be transparent, my dad largely underestimated the amount of stuff I had. With that said, the guys were very nice, just also very unorganized in loading the stuff up and at times unprofessional.

Updating my review and leaving the orignal below for full context. We just usd the College Hunks team again yesterday. Todd and Francisco helped us to remove a treadmill (up a flight of stairs and out of the house) along with some other large items - mattresses, bed frames, filing cabinets, and such. They also moved a heavy, solid wood sofa down two flights of stairs to the basement. The company, as a whole, continues to impress with its polite, professional, and remarkable teams.

Update May 2026 -- Fifth experience with College Hunks. Moved me to a new apartment in same building. They showed up on schedule and moved everything to the new apartment. Even helped me to trim a rug pad. Even though I packed and used my own boxes, they were willing to take them away. Satisfying moving experience at a reasonable rate! Thanks again. Update March 2025 Fourth experience with College Hunks -- Had some furniture and outdoor planters picked up.

The team we had for our move did a great job. Team leader Jorge was organized, detail oriented, and very communicative, which we very much appreciated, as we've had some bad moves in the past with other movers. He and his team Darwin & Erik worked very hard and efficiently. They padded and wrapped our furniture, doing a good job to protect everything. Nothing was damaged which was very important to us, because we had an antique mirror damaged in our last move.

February 18, 2026. Now it has been about 2 + years since the first time we called on College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving Company to move our queen size bed. Jorge and Keontay were both very professional and carefully covered our matress with plastic wrap so as not to soil it before putting it into their truck. They also made sure it was stable so it would not tumble over during the trip. We stayed under the 2 hour limit so they gave us back the $99.00 prepayment and charged us $478.20 for their sevices.
