College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving Olympia

I have no idea why College Hunks Tumwater WA has a favorable rating from me, which for some reason, I Am unable to delete. Yet my original rating us deleted. I would give them a zero star if I could. They were terrible and stole items from me. The only reason I received any justice at all was because of UTC. The manager never called me back, and the operations manager accused me of stealing my own things. I would not recommend this company if they were free.

Received a quote for approximately $470 with the first hour free to pick up junk. I helped load the truck and it took us 45 minutes. I was presented with the bill and it was almost $900. I called the estimator (Blaren) and complained. He said he would look into it and give me a call right back. I have never heard from him. They asked me for a review and I gave them zero stars. They have not posted my review. Not happy. We also got a quote to move furniture to a new house.

I booked services over 3 weeks out. The day of service ( Thursday ) they called at 0730 to ask me to move my 0800 appt to later that afternoon 3-5pm. I explained I had carpet cleaning at 3 pm and I needed my furniture items moved and disposed of so carpet cleaning can reach all areas…. Poor response. At 1430 they called again and rescheduled service to MONDAY. I explained I am leaving the state to move Monday. They stated an issue with their truck and no other trucks could be used to dispose of my items.

College Hunks came highly recommended to me from the JBLM Housing Office to deal with personal/non-PCS moves. I had a short notice deployment and wanted to store my things while I was gone. Originally, everything was great! The person who did my estimate and walk-through on the phone with me was able to explain everything and get me going. They had good affordable rates and were able to answer all my questions about packing some of my goods and putting them in a storage unit that I had reserved.

I tentatively made an appointment as I was told schedules were getting backed up and I could always cancel with the deposit returned. Plans changed and I cancelled service the same day (~10 minutes after making). My $99 still has not been refunded. This was over 40 days ago. I have spoken with 4 different reps who all tell me the same thing - it will be fixed, someone will contact me “tomorrow” etc. What’s sad is I’ve used their services in the past and everything was great. I now feel like I’m getting scammed.

We used college hunks multiple times before with great success. However, with the experience we are currently having, as I am typing this review for the Olympia office, we will NEVER use any of their services again. What we were quoted as an 8 hour day with 4 guys is turning into a 10+ hour day. We even had to call in our own people to come help. Our team shrink wrapped more than 70% of everything. This place was 95% ready for them. Unfortunately, 4 young “boys” refuse to listen to 4 grown women.

I was very specific about what I needed picked up when I put the request in over a week ago, a 900 pound upright piano. The day of scheduled pick update, I get a call saying they will be by in an hour. I ask them how many people they are bringing, and the guy says 2. I ask them if they will be able to pick up a 900 pound piano. He says he needs to get more stuff but will be by soon. 5 minutes later I get a call saying it will be an additional $600 to pick it up, which was never stated.

This seems like a common theme with this “company” got original estimate which was the reason I went with these guys.. but after you sign agreement before they move a thing in tiny fine print this agreement basically says they’re able to charge you the customer upwards of 1,000 % of original estimate. BUT THERES MORE.. After I confirmed I wanted them to move my stuff I got a call the day before scheduled move date and they asked for a $150-$200 Deposit over the phone..
