College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving Pittsburgh

I have used several different moving companies in the past with zero issue, however this was by far the worst company & experience. The first red flag was the team showing up an hour later than the 2-hour arrival window, smelling strongly of marijuana- not only apparent by smell, but demeanor. My new apartment has significant floor and wall damage, furniture missing pieces (making it unusable), boxes were left sitting out in the rain so items are ruined.

Significant damage to multiple items and complete lack of response from customer service and owner. At this point, it’s been almost a month since an initial claim was submitted with no response or resolution. The lack of communication has been unprofessional and disappointing.

Do not use them for packing for a one-way or long distance move. The quote estimated they would get everything on a rented moving truck, but instead we had to leave behind a garage full of stuff that didn't fit. We moved many hours drive away, so it was a huge hassle to figure out how to get the rest of the stuff to our new house, and if we knew we wouldn't be able to fit it on a truck we could rent and drive we would have figured out something other than renting a truck.

We moved in May 2022 in PGH and used them for packing and moving. The person who came out to assess our home was very professional. Packing the house was fairly well done and completed in one day. Unfortunately, despite them having a very accurate sense of our belongings (since they packed it all) the actual move felt like a disaster. We moved 3 blocks away and they didn't get the first box to the new house until the afternoon because they didn't arrive until 10am.

- Denied a refund for a poor quality move - Coerced into tipping - Movers were let go College Hunks charges for "time, not quality". I had 3 storage containers outside my home. I was confident that all my furniture and boxes would fit within these 3 containers. The movers packed the containers so poorly that they said I needed to get a 4th container. The move itself was slow and inefficient, yet the two movers were rushing to move onto their next job.

My mom hired College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving West Pittsburgh to load her moving truck with her things from a two bedroom apartment for an interstate move on Sept. 14, 2024. We were told the movers were "professionally trained" and would handle everything carefully. When they arrived, the movers were polite and efficient with packing the boxes, and nothing inside was broken. However, things went downhill with the furniture.

Crew was hired for junk removal. I had moved everything to one location in the basement conveniently located right by the driveway. No stairs no big obstacles for the crew. One crew member gave a quote then another spoke up and said that quote was too low. For this business one team member and only one should be giving the quotes to the customer. Along with that I found one of my chairs set up in the middle of the garage for the team to sit on. Which is fine but put it back where you found it.

This is not just another review. When I first thought about how to deal with my unpleasant experience with College Hunks, I instinctively wrote a review detailing all the things that they damaged. Upon giving this more thought, I'd like to detail College Hunk's policies, so that prospective movers can make a more informed decision. -Mover Quality: College Hunks operates on a "captain" model. Each crew of two or three has a captain, who leads the crew, and one or two (often part-time) additional laborers.
