College Hunks Hauling Junk and Moving St. Louis

Worst moving experience I’ve ever had. They did not provide paperwork prior to, or the day of, the move. I had to take photos of them and then request hard copies several times before receiving them via email. Before they even started the move, they asked for a review to get a discount on the move. Movers were untrained and I’ll-prepared. Took the lead guy 30 minutes to wrap one blanket around one mirror. Multiple items were damaged.

DO NOT USE COLLEGE HUNKS Price: I was quoted approximately $1200 for the move. When it was all done, after all the extra fees (mattress bags, insurance protection, wasted time etc.). This move cost me $2100. This was not in my budget. Service: There were 4 men moving us from a 2 bedroom apartment plus a 10x10 storage unit into a house. It took them 4 hours to get the furniture on the truck from the apartment and items from the storage unit.

I would not recommend College Hunks to anyone. When planning for your move it’s difficult to make a decision on who to hire to help you on the big day due to the horror stories that we’ve all heard regarding moving companies, and unfortunately we were also a victim. College Hunks was recommended to us by the company we used to pack us, as they stated they had a great relationship with them and were family owned.

If you want items handled with care or a company that cares to make it right when things are damaged, you might need to look elsewhere. One of the movers broke a $1,000 worth piece of furniture that was brand new. The damage happened before the item was moved from the room. Rodney knew it was wrong how this was being handled and voiced it so.

The worst part about all this is it was done at a bus stop for pre-k kids and in front of all of the young children. This company was hired to move our apartments due to them being renovated. The first day they were here they parked right at the bus stop. I asked politely if they could move it for just 5 minutes until the bus came. The response I got was " We'll move it when it comes" so then I said I'll just go down to the office and tell them.

**In response to Owner reply 7/22** My interaction with the workers was as polite and friendly as they were. Despite their not completing the job, they conducted themselves in a friendly manner, so any unpleasantness on my part would have been out of line from me. I tipped them because I tip all service workers. They did, however, promise that I'd be receiving a call from the company for a reschedule with a team that could then complete the service.

BROKE MY DESK. Left half of my belongings behind, claiming that we had “too many boxes”. I would have been more than happy to pay extra for the additional boxes, but they simply refused the idea altogether. This forced me to pay extra money to rent a UHaul to move things myself….I have a heart condition and was even wearing my heart monitor when they saw me. My chest is killing me.

really wanted to have a positive experience, and to start, I will say the movers themselves were kind and respectful. That’s honestly the main reason I didn’t raise concerns in the moment. However, overall, I’m very disappointed with the quality of the move. The pace was extremely slow, which significantly drove up the final cost. What’s most frustrating is that the team lead guy of the move came out beforehand to assess everything, yet the final price ended up being over $1,000 more than the original quote.
