Simple Moves

The lead singer of our band hired this company to pack, move, and store her stuff, including all our CDs and merch. They did a lot of bad things to her, including making her (6 months pregnant at the time) and her 72 year old father handle a lot of the moving in the extreme August heat (the movers smelt really strongly of cannabis and kept forgetting stuff, dropping things, ran into their tree and broke a branch off, etc), packed all the items in her china cabinet WITHOUT PACKING PAPER breaking all her childhood…

Run and DO NOT walk and not use this company!. My review is late because I had a death in my family literally two days after my move. I scheduled my move a month in advance and my scheduled date was for June 23rd between 11am-2pm. The movers did not show up until 4:05 pm. I was told I would receive 10% off my cost and didnt. My sofa was damaged and the second mover once they got to my the new house just stopped working. So me and the other mover moved my furniture! Ridiculous!

The previous time I hired Simple Moves (several years ago), the service was satisfactory. This time, the outcome has been subpar. Part of the wood frame on a dresser is shattered, the adjacent drawer cannot close, and the drawer suspension is mangled. A chunk of wood is missing from a leg of a chest of drawers. We've lost count on the number (more than 12) of glass and ceramic items were broken.

Completely unprofessional staff. One of the movers (who is at least 20 years my senior) asked for my phone number after getting all of my possessions loaded into the truck. I said no multiple times and he kept pressuring me. I was visibly uncomfortable and completely creeped out. It felt like he was holding my items hostage.

I just got done with a fiasco caused by Simple Moves. First, they had written on their contract they would come between 10AM-1PM, however they called to say they were on their way at around 1:30PM. Then, when they arrived they said that they couldn’t move an item that was previously described to them in detail on the phone. They said that they could not move it due to the weight and I said that it was unacceptable to have a contract and to then just say you don’t want the job anymore.

Communication is key and this company was lacking that for my move. I thought the process of working with a rep to go room by room over what was needed was a very good idea. But something was clearly lost in translation. I said from the get go that I needed packing help. I mentioned that by the team arrived we would have removed SOME items from the house but would need packing help for what was left. I even went over what rooms has the breakables and about how many boxes would be needed to back each room.

Be warned - the estimated amount of time that the company quotes for you is the only time they will give to the job. I called with a request for a last-minute move of a storage unit to our new home. I was incredibly grateful that the Simple Moves team was able to get us in on short notice. An inventory was requested to complete the estimate. I gave an estimated inventory with the disclaimer that it had been almost 2 years since I had been in the unit, and it was an incredibly full 10x11.

Do not use this company. The egregiously misquoted me and took nearly 3 hours to move a one bedroom apartment 5 minutes down the road to another one bedroom apartment and both were on the main floor. They damaged my couch when I wasn't looking and tried to act like they didn't. I noticed after they left because the light in my new apartment didn't work and had to be replaced for me to see the damage. And my TV has green pixels now.
