College Movers & Junk Hauling

I hate to leave this review but our experience with this company was terrible. While courteous and polite, these college kids were not up for the task they were assigned. They damaged two antique pieces and got some kind of black stains on our love seat and chair. I called the company to file a claim for the damage and they said they had a guy that would be able to take care of the damage, no problem. When he showed up (another college kid), he looked at one piece and said he could fix it.

I have moved many times in my life, several across continents. Although the one by College Movers was the most simple of them all, it was by far the worst. I will substantiate this statement below: 1) The movers arrived 3 hours late. 2) They were not very experienced, and given the tardiness, I had to physically collaborate in doing a job that I paid you to complete.

I called to schedule my move in April, and they called me the DAY BEFORE(August 4th)my appointment to tell me that they had to cancel because someone had been injured and they couldn’t find a replacement team. Injuries happen that’s out of anyone’s control, what IS IN YOUR CONTROL however is the way you treat your customers and the service you provide them in these scenarios.

I would give them ZERO stars if I could. We hired them to move us back in March. Only had 15 pieces of furniture to move, and just across town. Should have been done in 1-2 hours, but took them 6 hours. We went back to check on them, and they were all just standing around next to the truck. We had 2 beds. They did not put either of them back together correctly, causing one of them to break.

Disappointing experience. The movers were very nice when they were at my house but I didn’t notice until later that there was significant damage to my hardwood steps and large paint scuffs from the movers. I was trying to save time by getting help but if I’d done the moving myself I’d saved time (and money) because I’ve had to repaint and am trying to now figure out how to repair the wood damage to the stairs.

Worst experience of my moving life! I have moved over 35 times in my life and have never experienced such unprofessionalism. I scheduled the move with this company months before. They reached out the day before my move to confirm. And then 30min after the time they were scheduled to be there they canceled. I had to be out of my apartment by the next day and the best they could offer was to move 3 days later with no discount or apology. Worst company ever, do not hire them!

My budget would have been better served by a company who can quote a price high and low like two and half men. I don't know how a company can charge 1 1/2 hours of driving time from W. Lafayette to Lafayette, But it can be done, as I found out the hard (expensive) way.

Untrained workers that lacked proper lifting and moving skills. No experience to know how to get a L-shaped piece of furniture through a doorway. Was not equipped with enough blankets to wrap furniture causing numerous scratches. Inexperienced and NOT trained.
