This company was chosen to pack my sons household goods in Colonial Heights, Virginia. My (package) mail was opened without consent and a custom made gift that I received from my co-workers was disassembled and damaged due to being disassembled. The gift was not supposed to be nor made to be disassembled. My sons piggy bank was placed in a plastic tote up missing from my sons belongings. We had been collecting coins/dollars in that bank since he was born; he is now 5.
We don't travel to Colonial Heights, VA to do moves. There is another operation with a similar name close by that location. This should be removed. False review about Commonwealth Movers located at Gaithersburg, MD. It is another company. … More
I’d hire drunk college students to move me before I used this outfit again. If I couldn’t do that, I’d move my stuff on my bicycle. If that were impossible, I’d burn it. Unbelievable.
Absolutely unsubstantiated and false. Please call and let us know who you are, when you moved, where your move was from and to. If you are not able to do that, I hope all the public realizes this is a false post. In addition, all of your other reviews are no where near our location.
This company recently moved us, and just as I was about to share a positive review, we noticed some items are missing. A substantial amount of money, my purse, and my Apple Watch are all gone. What on earth?! We paid over $3,000 for this service, and your movers stole from us?! I am absolutely devastated! Regarding your response... Were you in my home at my time to claim that they or one of them didn't steal? Four men were in my home at one time, and I also had a child to keep an eye on.
Customer was told to file a police report. Our movers do not steal. All of the movers are long term staff. Who leaves substantial cash laying around when contractors are coming in. Crew chief has been here since 1994. Co workers between 1999 the most recent hire has been here over 4 years.
On April 7 2026, Commonwealth Movers illegally parked their truck in a fire lane that also blocked alley access for residents, making it impossible for residents to enter or leave their houses. Their behavior violates Maryland Transportation Code § 21-1003, which prohibits obstruction of private egress. The driver repeatedly refused polite requests to relocate the truck to legally park on the street where it was supposed to be to start with. Photos attached.

I can't recommend Commonwealth enough. The communication & transparency was excellent. The pricing was more than fair. Most importantly: I can't speak highly enough about the moving team. The five gentlemen who moved us were total professionals. On time, polite, kind. The moved extremely efficiently & were careful with our things. At our new house, they took the time to ask us where we wanted furniture within a room & reassembled everything that they had to breakdown. This is the moving company you're looking for.
Our recent move from Northern Virginia to Massachusetts went smoothly with Commonwealth Movers, the best choice we could have made! Kevin came to our house to personally discuss our needs and gave us an estimate for a reasonable price. We asked for full-service packing and a split shipment (sending a few items to a family member in eastern Mass.). Javier, Miguel and Ishmael handled everything flawlessly! They were fast, efficient and friendly through the whole process of packing, loading and unloading.
The process from start to finish was great. In early June, I called Faith and she explained the process to me. I then met with Kevin on Zoom for an estimate. On the day of, the movers Xaiver and Jose arrived early. They were strong, like moving boxes 5 at a time strong. They were also friendly and made small talk. They moved the items out my apartment in 30 minutes. They then met me at my new home and moved everything in. The process was so quick and took less than 3 hours.
I have moved a few times in the last few years from finishing my PhD in Wisconsin to a postdoc at Penn and now working in DC. The Commonwealth movers are by far the best movers I have ever had the pleasure to work with. My husband and I cannot stop talking about how great Oscar’s team was. They did a phenomenal job moving us from PA to the DMV area. I have never seen a moving crew work so efficiently. Working with them made our cross state move a lot easier and we were so happy with their service.
