DO NOT HIRE. UNPROFESSIONAL, DISHONEST, AND AGGRESSIVE. I wish I could give zero stars. My experience with Cool Hand Movers was a total disaster from start to finish. They are running a complete bait-and-switch scam. I paid for and was promised a 3-man crew, but they only sent 2 guys, forcing the move to take much longer while still trying to charge me the full rate. Loading items very carelessly and refused to hear any instructions. The absolute worst part of this experience was a mover named Jonas.
Hi Sam, This is a completey dishonest statement. We spoke with you earlier and you didn't bring any of these details to our attention. First, this was always booked as an hourly move, not flat rate. The rate increases with time spent on the job--there is no negotiation to be had.
This company talks a good game and somehow gets great press but I had the worst moving experience I've ever had with them. Almost every piece of furniture they touched was damaged. Packing was rushed and careless. Multiple items went "missing". The move itself was chaotic, slow, disorganized and went way over time. Both the building I moved out of and into were damaged by the movers.
They couldn't do the move so without my permission they forwarded all of my information to another moving company to subcontract it out!! I am extremely disappointed by this company, as I have used them before and even recommended them to other people. WILL NEVER USE AGAIN.
Hi Faye, For dates before our June 15th reopening, we have been offering our clients an email introduction to another trusted moving company. The email you received reads: "Thanks for taking the time to fill out the estimate request form!
cheduling was easy and some of the crew was good, some awful. When I talked to a supervisor about the issues below, they offered to give me a very small discount (a fraction of the damaged items) if I'd stay quiet about my complaints and only give good reviews. They were not worth the money. I was looking for a white glove level service and this one was highly recommended.

I normally don’t write reviews, but after this experience I feel it’s important to share what happened from my own perspective. My husband already left a review about our move, and in their response the company chose to deny everything and even call my husband dishonest rather than acknowledge any part of what occurred or offer an apology. Because I was also present during the entire move, I want to describe exactly what I personally witnessed.
We still haven’t heard from you or Sam with any direct complaint about the service and you’ve repeated false information. Your claim that the team called us within a few minutes of arriving is factually untrue—it was hours into the service. This is easily verifiable with call records.
If I could give ZERO stars I would. After moving many, many times in NYC this has to be hands-down worst move I have ever experienced. The movers were beyond incompetent: destroying over $14k in furniture. Then we are told OOPS you didn't buy the extra insurance for us to replace your items if WE DESTROY THEM. Marble Saarinen table - dropped and cracked in half. Slatted wood console - picked up by the slats. WHO DOES THAT? RUN. Choose any other movers - I'd bet anything that the glowing reviews here are paid for.

Cool Hand Movers were hired by my tenants upstairs - my horrible experience was the damage they caused. During the day of the move, we heard loud noises of boxes/furniture being dropped on the floors. They broke one of the door frames on the second floor by the stairs when they moved furniture from the 3rd floor. They also damaged and broke parts of my wood floor. I have to get the damages repaired and just know that I will never hire them for a move.
They broke my TV which costs $1000 and only gave me $300 as reimbursement. Their policy is to only reimburse items based on weight—absurd. Cool Hands also advised that we don’t need a TV box yet our TV still broke … They were pretty cool and helpful with everything else though. Without the TV breaking, I would give 4.5 stars.

I had an excellent experience with Cool Hand Movers and can’t recommend them highly enough. From start to finish, communication was fantastic. Matt did a great job coordinating everything via email ahead of the move. Clear, responsive, and professional, which immediately put me at ease. On moving day, Ruben, Santiago, and Klever were absolutely outstanding. Despite brutal single-digit weather, they showed up on time, in great spirits, and ready to work.

I've moved apartments in NYC several times, and Cool Hand was the best mover I've worked with so far. First of all, I love the bin system. Second of all, everyone we worked with was great. Matt at the office was super responsive and helpful. Jeremy and his crew were friendly, they worked really hard, and they were communicative. We paid a little extra to have them pack for us, and they did a great job.
We had absolutely THE BEST moving experience with Cool Hand Movers! Hands done the best. A dream of a move. I have lived in New York for over 20 years and have moved multiple times. Moving is never easy, and moving in New York can be downright traumatic. The thought of moving feels triggering to me. Cool Hand Movers are like unicorns of moving companies. When tasked with moving my mother out of her large apartment, I looked into various moving companies and read about Cool Hand Movers on Park Slope Parents.
