Craig Van Lines

Use them at your own risk. We used Craig Van lines 2 times before our last move and didnt have any problems with them so we used them again. This last time, we didn't have as much stuff since we had downsized and when they packed up the boxes, they used 6 to 7 pieces of paper to wrap one glass which resulted in a lot of extra boxes and weight. Over 10 boxes only had 2 small items packed inside them.

Where do I begin? Please do your research before using Craig Van Lines. We used them 10 years ago to move us to North Carolina and we were very happy with the services they provided. When we made the decision to move back to Northern Virginia, we contacted them. To say our experience was NOT GOOD would be an understatement. They did not send down enough people to do our packing or the actual loading. As they reached the deadline to be done, they rushed and believe me, the packing proved it.

I hired Craig Van Lines after interviewing three additional companies. Fred Craig personally sat with me in my kitchen and assured me that his company was built on family reputation, long-standing employees, and quality service. That assurance is why I chose them — they were not the lowest quote. Our move date was December 15th. It was 24° outside — not ideal conditions — but it was the agreed date, and everyone had a job to do. The crew arrived and I welcomed them into my home, trusting them with our belongings.

Never again would I hire this company to move if I were you. They charged me for team travel to eat lunch and to spend time backing up the truck when it was too wide for a driveway to reverse in the loading dock (When the kid drove in, he was unable to turn the truck to the loading dock. He then drove out the driveway and back in), and the 18-year-old who was working the second day was sent to drive a larger 26-foot truck to move my items. In any case, the vehicle was too large for a one-bedroom condo.

Craig Van Lines helped us move on 5/4. Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing overall. The company sent a crew of four movers. Two of the movers worked very hard and were efficient throughout the move, and I do want to recognize Felix, the crew lead, for being professional and helpful. However, the overall quality of the move was below expectations. One mover appeared physically unable to handle the demands of the move.

Dissapointed is an understatement, after recieving a quote for my families move less than 10 miles down the road I had high hopes the job would be fairly simple. The crew arrived with only 1 truck, after I paid for 2. They refused to bring a ton of our stuff including things that had been assured would be able to be moved during my quote. I tried calling multiple times and could not get ahold of anyone from the office to state that we were missing a truck.

At first I was pleased w the performance of Craig Van lines but after we had time to unpack we discovered that our expansive pro treadmill was damaged beyond repair I hired Craig Van Lines for a move from Northern Virginia to the Richmond area and unfortunately my experience has been very disappointing. One of the items moved was a treadmill that was fully operational before the move. During the move, the treadmill was forced through a doorway rather than being disassembled.

Update: Craig moved my household goods from my condo to a single family home. I am sorry to say that this third move by them was not a charm. I believe the crew doing the move, in any moving company, can make or break the experience. The crew that moved us was careless and not concerned about getting the job done right. They just wanted to hurry up.Fred promised we would get 8 wardrobe boxes. We got 2 and had to ask multiple times for more.
